She has a kindle and me and my brother have kindle fire hds and while we often read the same books, I know I can turn auto sync off, but I want to sync to my phone can I still do that without syncing to their kindles? Also even if I don't sync will get book recommendations for then when I'm looking for books to read? We aren't into the same stuff but we often read the same books for social reasons. Lastly, if i do choose to switch can I keep my books and apps from this accoun? ALso sorry for any auto corrects I hope the kindle keyboard gets used to its user over time, I think I fixed most of then.

Sync is either on or off, there is no per device syncing.

Are you talking about book recommendations for the account that the Kindles are registered to? It will take into account all the books that are purchased on the account. You can go into recommendations, and when it recommends a book based on one of the books that you don't want it to take into account, check the box for "Don't use for recommendations".

As long as you're the only one reading that book at that time, you can sync it with your phone.

If you deregister your Kindle from the current account, all content will be deleted from your device. You will not be able to transfer your content to another account, but everything will still be on your original account if you decide to register to that account again.
