Wow - You call all the free "adult content" "religious and preachy". Sorry, I can't agree with you.

I have over 20,000 books that I paid less than $500 for. I don't call that expensive. Again, I can't agree with you.

Your point for posting something like this??????

I've been able to find lots of free / inexpensive books that are not religious and preachy. You might need to work on your search skills a bit.

The OP's definition of 'too expensive' seems to be any book with a price higher than $0.00--tough audience.

Many of them are. I am still buying some paperbacks at the big box stores because the prices are considerably cheaper. I don't believe that Amazon is too happy that Penguin and others permit Sam's club and others to sell cheaper than they are are allowed to sell electronic media. Ann, some of the Prime Loaned books are pretty good and fairly recent best sellers. I've found a couple of Authors that are pretty good. They sell cheap, they don't deal with big publishers and self publish, many new authors aren't even bothering with deadtrees anymore, yet are still making a good return.

There is some good books out there ranging from the holy to porn (erotic literature if you prefer), there are lots of old classics out there as well as new and young authors who are willing to give out free samples. There is good stuff out there. I typically won't spend more than $10 once a month for a book, and find another 2 or 3 to read for free.
Best of luck and don't let the turkeys get you down.

I have no problems finding good, inexpensive and free e-books to read. Maybe you should work on becoming a better e-book consumer. Possibly there is an e-book about that which you could read.

Maybe that's why there has been a major law suit concerning the Agency Model (google it). Some of the major publishers have settled out of court and others are still fighting. Amazon has/had no say until the law suit(s) are settled and finally allowed to set their own prices within certain limits. It still won't be like paper books as there are limits but there will be some freedom.

You cannot be serious. You're either joking/trolling, or dimwitted.

.99 cents for a full length book is too expensive? Perhaps you should give your kindle to someone who will appreciate it, and go to your local library.

stinking greedy authors thinking they should get paid for their work. The nerve.

I wonder if ann, the OP works for free?

Almost all my books were free a lot of history etc. I don't generally enjoy fiction, but I have found a lot of good books for free.

There are tons of great free books, especially stuff out of copyright, available on Amazon and at other sites such as Gutenberg.

That's one great advantage of the Kindle -- nobody's found a way to print books for free yet, but out of copyright books are so cheap to store and distribute that they really can be free.
