I just received my Kindle this week and I'm downloading books with no problems. However, I saw that as Prime Member there is also the option to borrow books from the Amazon Lending Library and I cannot figure out why I am unable to do this. I tried from my Kindle Device and the only choices I get are to purchase book or learn how I can loan this book by becoming a Prime Member. Which I already am! I've searched through all the Help sections and cannot figure out the answer to this.
Called Customer Service and they were extremely unhelpful. Can anyone provide any help?

Do you happen to be a guest on anyone else's Prime account? if so, that's what's stopping you from using the benefits of your own Prime account. Just have that person take you off of their Prime account.

I am way confused.
<<or learn how I can loan this book by becoming a Prime Member.>>

You don't have to be a Prime Member to loan a book.

Prime Member books are listed as 0.00 and then another price if you are not a Prime Member. If you aren't seeing that, maybe it's not a Prime Member book or the only other thing I can think of is that you are not signed into your account.

Another thought... I am a Prime Member, but I am not the Prime Member account holder, so I do not get the benefits that the Prime Member who paid the $79 gets, like the Prime Library thing or Prime Movie...

She probably meant "borrow" this book.

It's late, especially where you are.

No, not a guest on anyone else's account. I only have one account. I am totally new to using this service but I know that my Prime Account is active since I'm able to utilize the other Prime Services and the books that I have bought have been at the Prime Member's price.
I'm not sure if the Prime Memberships are different or vary in some way I thought the annual membership was standard. Sorry just to clarify I was referring to the borrow for free service that the Amazon Lending Library has. I'm not sure if I explained that..I'm not referring to the external library services where you can loan books.
On my Kindle I selected a book and it has the Kindle Price and then a Borrow for Free button which then proceeds with a pop-up about their borrowing Program for Prime Members...but it doesn't give me an option to borrow it.
Not sure what else to try but maybe there is an additional membership particularly for the Prime Library services.. Thanks

Oh, aren't you so sweet, giving me my excuse for being stupid. I need you around more often. ;-)

Edited for typo.

There is no Prime Member's Price. E-books cost the same for everyone to purchase.

There is only one kind of Prime account, and I understand the services that it offers -- free 2 day shipping on eligible items, free streaming videos, and the ability to borrow one book per month from the KOLL list. You did follow the directions (with pictures) in the KOLL announcement post at the top of this forum, right?

You can't borrow a Prime book using your computer, you have to borrow from the Kindle device itself.

Sfgrl says:
Yes I'm doing it from the device and it doesn't display the option...somehow my Prime account is not linking to my kindle..

Ok I think I figured out the issue. Found the answer in another forum. It seems that the type of Prime Membership I have only applies to the 2 day shipping basically it's a Student Prime which excludes you from the KOLL program. Thanx everyone.

I was responding to Peter Craine's post, which he has now deleted, asking if you had tried to borrow it using the computer. I already knew that you had tried to borrow it on your Fire.

To see which post someone is responding to, click the blue link in the top right of the message.

Oh, dear. We should have asked you if you also had a free Prime Membership. That would interfere with the 30 day full-service free prime membership that you get with your Fire.

Yes, that's the other thing I forgot mine is a Student free Prime Membership trial...I have the option to upgrade but I'll prob wait till my free trial ends. Thanks again..

If you don't have the free trial membership but a paid student membership, try updating your kindle software. I have an older kindle but once I updated it, it worked.

Elise, why on earth would you try to add to a thread that's been dead for over 2years?
