I do not like the new update released for the Silk browser for the Kindle Fire HD 7. Any way I can downgrade to the older version? The new version does not show us to hide the address bar. Also, fixed elements in web pages become blurred when scrolling. Images do not look sharp either.

The icon at the bottom with the four arrows gets rid of the address bar. I find the update snappier and i likr the minimalistic new tab look.

Argun, there is no way to 'downgrade'

As Richard pointed out, the little box with 4 directional arrow pointing at the corners means, "expand" the screen.

As for the other, you'll get used to it.

I do, too. I think the whole appearance is ...I dunno... softer? Rounder? Easier on the eyes, imo.

Yes it looks nicer however they took away the ability to download anything from the internet I loved my kindle now it is very limiting

I just got my Fire on Friday and was just getting used to the browser when this threw me for a loop yesterday. Before, I could press on a link and download mp3 podcasts - now it will not let me do that. I can download a mobi file from Gutenberg, but I could not download any audio files.

I don't think they took away that ability. What type of error message are you getting?

I would start with a hard reboot...with the Kindle not connected to the charger, hold the power button until the screen goes black (ignore the message about do you want to shut down), then touch the power button to turn the Kindle back on.

Uh... no they didn't. I've downloaded 2 photos and a PDF already today.

I agree Arjun, the new "upgrade" is actually a "downgrade". I hate it with a passion! People who think "nesting" and "dropdown" menus are "minimalist" are wrong. Gone are the days where everything was a single click away... now we have to go to menus within menus within (you guessed it) MORE menus.

I don't understand the mentality to complain. Change the browser if you don't like it. It really isn't that hard.

Tara, just change the browser to one that suits you. That is why Amazon lets you install apps from other websites such as goodereader.com and 1mobile.com.

I'll try those sites John, thanks.

I have a question. I bought a Kindle Fire 7" in June and I had no problem with downloading videos from pretty much everywhere. I just touched and held the download link and a menu would pop up and I would select 'save link'. After the 'upgrade' of Silk got put on my Kindle, the 'save link' option no longer shows. Is this merely a settings issue? It seems to be behaving like a smartphone, but when I've tried to switch it to desktop format, the 'save link' option is still missing. Any suggestions? Thank you!

I'm also having issue with "save link" not showing up as an option with this new upgrade.
