Which kindle would you get a 7 year old for movies and books? The 199. or the 249. one? As far a storage?

If he/she will mostly be at home with it, the $199 is perfect. It can hold plenty of books and a few movies if you do decide to download them. However if you are a prime and netflix user, then you won't have to worry.

Hi I am a prime and netflix user. What do you mean I won't have to worry?

The Blade says:
Prime and Netflix are streamed so they are not stored on the device. I think that is what Gayle is getting at.

And, if I were you, I'd look at the Kindle Fire 7", LCD Display, Wi-Fi, 8 GB - Includes Special Offers for $159. A bit less storage and the screen is not HD, but for a 7 yo, it might be more than enough device.

I wanted her to have her books in color.

The Blade says:
It is a color device with an LCD screen. It is a Fire, like the others you are considering. It is just not HD (high definition).

All the Fires are color. That's why the link says "LCD Display."

How do i use my account and her not have my books and movie? Can you have more than one person on the same account?

The Blade says:
Yes, an infinite number of people can be on the same account - and MUST be on the same account to share the entire library. But the Fire comes with "FreeTime" which is a parental control program. From the link I provided earlier:

>>>>"Perfect for Parents

Kindle FreeTime is a new service, built from the ground up to help give parents peace of mind when it comes to tablet use. Parents can create a profile for each of their children and choose what books, apps, games and videos they want to give their kids access to. Kindle FreeTime is free on the new Kindle Fire."<<<<

You should go to the link I provided in my first post above and read about the device. All of these questions - and much, much more - will be answered on that page. :-)

B. Marks says:
This is a good place to ask the sorts of questions your asking and you seem to be getting good answers. However, the kind of questions you're asking seem to indicate that you haven't really done your homework. I suggest going to the very lengthy Kindle Fire product pages on Amazons website and reading through that information pretty carefully.

Don't worry, you'll still have plenty of questions after you do that, but they'll be less basic questions and you'll be better prepared to understand the answers.

Please take this as a constructive suggestion and not as criticism. Your questions are reasonable ones and this is the right place to ask them, but it sounds as though you need a bit more context to be able to better understand the answers.

I second the recommendation for the New FireKindle Fire 7", LCD Display, Wi-Fi, 8 GB - Includes Special Offers. I have purchased one for my girls for Christmas, they are 7 & 9. I have set up a Freetime profile for each of them. They are going to love that. Then, though they are on my account, they won't see my book covers of shirtless men!
