my new kindle fire will not turn on after being shut down. it had a full battery before i shut it down. i try pressing the power button but the green light just comes on for about 2 seconds and then goes off, with no response....any ideas??

Try rebooting it.

Make sure it's fully charged (which you said it is). Unplug the Fire.
Hold the power button in for 20 seconds (count them).
It should then reboot. The "kindle fire" screen will
appear for a couple of minutes while it's coming back on.

About your screen not rotating.. Go into settings (the little gear icon) and over on the far left it has a "locked" or "unlocked" icon. She probably accidentally locked the screen.

Somehow the screen got locked.
Press Settings (gear icon in right hand corner) and then press lock/unlock to have the screen rotate.

Thank you Pineapple. We were pushing the button like normal and it would just shut off. Held it for a slow 20 second count and then hit the power again and it came on!!

What if you hold down the power for 20 sec, try to reboot, and still nothing?

In reply to an earlier post on Feb 6, 2012 5:58:07 PM PST
I am having the same trouble...but the reboot still doesn't work. Anything else that can be done?

Try holding it longer. I use a slow 30 second count. Then wait a minute before turning it back on.

ETA: If that doesn't do it, some people have had success letting the battery drain completely and then recharging.

For the past two days my games aren't opening. I get a message that says "forced to close". Any suggestions? I can go to the web without any problems. Thanks.

I've purchased quite a few books from amazon for my Kindle Fire. Recently, when I've tried to purchase books I've gotten an error message that states "the content can not be downloaded at this time. Try to download from library at a later time." Since receiving this message I have been able to successfully purchase and download other books. Any advice? I'm trying to purchase The Hunger Games!!!
