Where is Kindle Compass Magazine?

I had an inactive subscription to this free publication. I cancelled it to try and resubscribe so that I could receive it. Instead, it seems to have vanished and I can't find it anywhere. If it's out there & still free to subscribe to, would someone please point me in the right direction...

that's funny. just got mail that said,
"Your free trial to The Kindle Compass (bi-weekly) has started - you can begin reading on your Kindle. If you enjoy your free trial, do nothing and your subscription will automatically continue at the monthly subscription rate."
I have no recollection of signing up for this 'free at the moment' subscription, and have no clue what it is or does.

I just got the same email and can't seem to find it anywhere on Amazon.com to find out a) what it is and b) what is the monthly subscription rate. Frankly, I'm more than just a little ticked off that they would subscribe me automatically for something that I might end up getting billed for! Good thing I checked my email!

This Compass is showing up on my Kindle also. Can see no option as to find out what subscription cost will be after 2 wk trial. Has anyone else figured it out yet?

I got the same message on my e-mail and am very disgusted. They can't bill me as I removed my payment method!! The stinkin' nerve!

I feel the same way...makes me wonder what else amazon might pull.

Just got the same email. Anyone have any idea what the "billing" will be later on? More than a little unhappy about this. I can't find anything via Google search about it either, other than Amazon having registered KindleCompass as a web address.

I recieved this email and am so mad that Amazon would do this. I didn't order this but they were going to begin charging my credit card for it if I didn't cancel the subscription. The charge was $2.25. Not much but it adds up especially if lots of people do nothing. I feel violated. I want to stay in control of what I buy not someone else. I don't mind suggestions but billing me for a subscription they think I would like is robbery. I am really mad about this. Times are tough for everyone so the last thing I want is someone taking my money without my permission.

the good news go to https://www.amazon.com/gp/digital/fiona/manage?ie=UTF8&ref_=ya_14&#Magazines and in the left column click on magazines and then Compass is listed and on the right there is an options tab where you can cancel your "subscription."

Just got the email this morning myself and just canceled, now going to find an email link to tell them what I think of them wasting so much of my time this morning.

I don't care what the Kindle Compass is. I'm upset that Amazon feels it can sign me up for a "free" subscription and then begin charging me for it, all without my permission.
I logged in per the instructions on the email and cancelled the Compass subscription.

There's another thread on the Kindle Customer Service Q & A Forum (see the list of most active community forums below this). Look for 'Auto-Subscription to the Kindle Compass??' and you'll see more unhappy comments, including a transcript of Alisa's conversation with customer service, who didn't seem to know that people were being subscribed. At one point her transcript indicates he says:
"that subscription is to keep updated the customer of kindle, normally if you purchase a certain item you will like to get the most you can of the device, also be updated of the news and features, that's Kindle compass and it's complete free."

BTW, I didn't receive an email and am not (9 a.m. in Texas) subscribed. Wonder what the difference is, or if they just haven't gotten around to me yet?

Same here. I didn't subscribe to it. No idea what's it all about. Happened to my Prime membership. They gave me a 30-day trial [for the 2nd time]. I forgot to cancel it and they billed me $79. I never got any email that my trial was about to end. Totally turned off with that.

On my first Prime trial years ago, i got a notification that my trial will end in a few days. The second time around i got nothing.

Disappointed the way they "sneaked in".

I just also recieved notice of my free subscription to Kindle compass, which I did not order, and they will begin billing me for it after the free trial period. I did not order this nor do I think it is legal for them to charge my credit card for something I did not order.

Wow i just logged in to find out what the Amazon Kindle Compass was and realized that there were many many other people as angry as I am that Kindle would sign me up for something without my knowledge and then rely on me to cancel this, whatever it is, or they would begin charging me some unknown price. Why wouldn't they send out information about what it is they are offering and let me decide if I want to buy it or not? I have no idea what it is they have signed me up for nor any idea how much it will cost, since there was no explanation in the email. What nerve!

Just talked to Kindle and Kindle Compass is theirs, and there is no charge for it. This is according to Lydia, a very helpful person that had to do some searching to find out herself. We told her it was having a negative impact. She didn't understand the comment about billing at the subscription rate, because there is no charge. She noted the ad was poorly worded.

I called Amazon a little after 9:00 am CST this morning to question them about the unauthorized Kindle Compass subscription. I spoke with two different Kindle support people who both appeared to be dead certain that no subscription could have appeared without someone initiating it on our computer or Kindle. Thankfully, my wife had the good sense to Google and quickly find this discussion. I very much like Amazon and I am fairly certain they will fairly quickly get to the bottom of what caused this. I am disappointed however that they didn't immediately educate their support people when this discussion started early this morning.

I have not received an email about this but I am a Kindle Fire owner so I have taken notice of the discussion. Based on the previous post by R. Bartram it appears that this is a communication issue rather than onerous intent on the part of Amazon. They should have made clear in their email that the the magazine is free, which I believe is their intention. Rather than sending the standard subscription email Amazon should have introduced the product, explained its purpose, and given the chosen recipients the opportunity to opt-in. This device specific magazine concept is also utilized by HP which includes a digital mag called Pivot (http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/23/hp-announces-pivot-for-touchpad-the-curated-magazine-like-way/) along with their HP TouchPad. On balance I think that this is a good idea but the initial roll out has obviously been executed poorly.

I just received it today!!! Pissed!!! When I could find no info about it, I cancelled it immediately.

I was told it was not free and I would be billed after the 14 trial period! I told them to cancel it!
