My have had a problem twice now with my kindle being unresponsive. For example, It will be charged and I read before I go to bed. When I wake up the next morning it will not turn on. I connected to the charger and the power light will not come on. I left connected to the charger for several hours and the power light would still not come on. I attempted a different charger and still no change. I attempt to turn it on before calling amazon support and it wouldn't turn on. I get on the phone with them and it turns on. I was so angry after trying for 12 hours. Any ideas what could be causing this?

High blood pressure.

No, no, Dittie. High blood pressure would be the effect, not the cause :-)

I'll put in a vote for Murphy's Law.

I know this is crazy talk. I actually went shopping for a new vacuum, because mine wouldn't work. I didn't buy one which turned out to be a good thing, because I found out the electric socket had tripped the fuse and wasn't working.

Did you try a different electrical outlet?

Another thought - do you think your cord might be loose on one of the ends? And when it was jiggled to a different position, contact was made between the device and the outlet?

Why would anyone fiddle with a Kindle for 12 hours, and to the point of anger? CS is there 24/7.

If the Fire is nonresponsive, try a reboot. Hold the power button for 30 seconds (time it), release the button, then wait for it to turn off. Turn it back on again.

As to why it's not working -- I'm not sure exactly what you mean by unresponsive. Is the battery depleted? If so, are you turning Wi-Fi off when you're not using it? Are there any books stuck indexing? Do you have any apps running in the background? Any one of the three could deplete your battery in a few hours.

buzangel, you can also try rebooting your Kindle. That often fixes weird glitches.

- Fully charge your Kindle, then unplug it from the power source.
- Press and hold the power button for thirty seconds, and ignore anything that might come up on the screen. Be sure to hold the button for the full thirty seconds. It is the difference between restarting versus rebooting.
- Release the button and leave the Kindle alone to come alive again. (You may have to briefly press the button one more time.)

What did Kindle Support say when you talked with them?

ETA: Artist, you beat me to it AGAIN? What - do you have ESP when it comes to me??

Would that be called psychic pre-stalking? :-)

It's probably just because I type very fast.

Battery was fully charged and no apps were open nor books.

I tried that several times throughout the day. I didn't world with it constantly. When I did call customer service it turned on the very first attempt and he gave me no reason as to what could have caused it.

Did anyone else hear Johnny Gage's voice? "Rampart, Kindle is unresponsive. Pupils are fixed and dilated. BP is 120/70."

No? Just me, then.
