How do I send mobi files to the "Kindle for Mac OS X" application

I know how to send a mobi file to a Kindle reader and I know how to send a mobi file to "Kindle for iOS" - but how do I send mobi files to the "Kindle for Mac OS X" application?

I have an iMac, a MacBook, a Kindle and an iPad. I create mobi files on my iMac and would like to distribute them to all of my devices. However, I do not know an elegant method to sent a mobi file from my iMac directly to "Kindle for Mac OS X" on my MacBook. Is this at all possible?

Do not dare laugh at my computer illiteracy, but when we got a new MacBook, I used a firewire to transfer files from the old MacBook to the new one. Would this be possible from iMac to MacBook? It's been about 3 years and it took me a while to stumble through it, but I got all the vital files I needed transferred. There may be a simpler way of doing it, though, for a mobi file. Could you do it as an attachment to email and drag it to the Kindle file through your "Finder"? Just a thought.

Use Send to Kindle or the email address associated with your Kindle or iPad to send the documents to your device. They will be in your Manage Your Kindle library and the archives/cloud of your other devices. You can find the email by going to http://www.amazon.com/myk and then click on manage your devices on the left. More info here:

"Use Send to Kindle or the email address associated with your Kindle or iPad to send the documents to your device. They will be in your Manage Your Kindle library..."

Both, Send to Kindle and the email address associated with a Kindle or iOS device cannot be used to send personal documents to "Kindle for Mac OS X". This seems to be only possible for content that has been bought at Amazon.

I guess it is not possible to send anything that has not been bought at Amazon directly to "Kindle for Mac OS X". The only way is to get the mobi file somehow onto the Mac and then add it manually to "Kindle for Mac OS X". That is very disappointing and I wonder why Amazon is preventing this (and preventing it is what Amazon is doing since it is possible to send content bought at Amazon directly to "Kindle for Mac OS X").

Yes why does Amazon prevent free books being sent to "Kindle for Mac OS X"? This is very frustrating.
