I cannot access anything until I "register" my Kindle. But I cannot figure out how to do that. My efforts to reach Amazon about this problem have led to hours of frustration. It is doubtless my fault, but it doesn't help to know that.

Just Peachy says:
Which Kindle do you have?

Do you have wifi connection nearby?

Anytime you wish to reach Amazon, click on help at the top or bottom of any Amazon page. Then click the contact us button on the next page. Answer the questions and the correct contact info will be shown. I suggest using phone or chat for quickest response. Email takes forever.

Does the registration window come up or do you need help to find the registration window in the menu?

you have to have wifi to register the device.

Did you follow the instructions on the screen of the device?

When I start that process, I am asked to indicate my problem, which I do, then specify it further, which I do; then I try to indicate which mode of contact I prefer, but the screen will not allow me to scroll down to that. VERY frustrating. I've tried to do that many, many times. I cannot get a telephone number that allows me to call Amazon.

I am a dedicated Amazon customer (several orders just this past week). My new Kindle is a replacement for one that I broke. Amazon replaced it quickly, with no problem at all. Wonderful customer relations.

But trying to get the replacement properly registered has caused me monumental frustration. And I cannot use it at all until I "register" it.

What's odd is that it should have come from Amazon already registered. Anyway, just follow the link that Peachy provided and you should be good.

I am grateful for your responses, but I think I will wait till I see my son on Wednesday. He is far more adept than I at these things. Thanks!

I guess my biggest frustration was not having a telephone number to call, where I could speak to a human being. Realistically, Amazon probably cannot afford that.

If you fill out the form one of the options is for them to call you...they will do so within a minute or two.

If you answer the questions - all of them, then the contact info is shown. One of the options is phone (with the correct phone number) or to have Amazon call you. They do within 2 minutes.
