Today is National Creamsicle Day!

I've never been particularly fond of the frozen kind but here is a link to some interesting recipes from Creamsicle Martinis to Dreamsicle/Creamsicle Cake:

Enjoy if this happens to tickle your taste buds!

As a child did you have a favorite toy and if so did you keep it as a memento of your childhood or perhaps to pass on to your own offspring? Alternatively, perhaps one of your parents passed on a particularly special item to you or your siblings from their childhood. Do you still have the item?

Sally in SA says:
Hello to all the wonderful people on this thread.

I have been so busy and have not even been lurking but will skim through all posts some time in case I have missed some momentous event!

I have a new (young) boss so my life at work is sure to change somewhat. My boss is retiring at the end of this month and I am going to miss him terribly. He is an old friend from way back. The new one seems to be OK but is already talking about changes. Oh well...just go with the flow I guess. I know it is not going to be so easy getting off to watch the GS's sport though.

I have also been somewhat busy with helping out my son and his family. They are a one car family at present while his car is in for repairs (2 months already). Unfortunately he often works in the evenings and so I have been fetching my oldest grandson from school, going to their house and sitting with my younger GS while their mom takes the older one to soccer practice. It's great spending time with the younger GS but it does mean that I leave home in the morning at 6:15 and on most nights I get home again after 7:30. Then there is still dinner to prepare etc etc.

So as you can see, not much time for posting or lurking.

I have been missing you all terribly though and think about you often.

Thanks cat for the start, and obviously to all the starters who keep the thread going. I look forward to being part of the community again soon.

Sally Good to hear from you..
We have been wondering about you and missing you lots...
Hope things calm down soon..
You never know, the changes the new boss has in mind might
be better,,, I wouldn't count on it though..

@ Cat
Thank you for the start today, it will be interesting to see how many go down memory lane with their favourite toys.
I still have a family of teddy bears which I got as a small child, my mother arrived in DK for my wedding bearing the largest one and telling everyone that I would not be able to get along without it, very embarrassing at the time but on reflection they have always been a good solid support group for me through the years and I am pleased that I still have them to tell my secrets to, they always understand, and so does Rudi-puss.

How really fabulous to see you again, though I am sorry to hear that you have been having such a frenetic time of it over the last month.
Some years ago I too got a very young boss as a replacement for an older guy who also became a good friend over the years, he left to go to greener pastures and I do so hope that they are in fact greener and didn't just look it from the other side of the fence, anyway the transition to the new young boss was only difficult in the beginning, as any change can be, now he is truly respected for his knowledge and the way he handles things, of course he has made changes, but has introduced them in a good way - so I hope that you will be as lucky as me with the changes coming for you.
Glad that you are getting lots of time with your grands though.

@ KayKay
I seem to remember that we often have the same tastes in books, when I saw that Letters.. was free again I just had to post it since it is such a moving and lovely book.

I do hope that the Chronic pain book can deliver what it promises, I am sure that there are many posters here that would appreciate any help at all in that area.

I need to say that it is really a pleasure that you are posting more again, it is sooooo nice finding you here again, we do miss folk and worry about those who are absent.

How are your grands doing, bet they are growing up fast, I hope that the little one is doing well.

Also hoping that you are feeling better health-wise. ♥

(^_^) - Fingers

A guy was packing for a business trip and his three year old daughter was having a wonderful time playing on the bed.

At one point she said, "Daddy, look at this," and stuck out two of her fingers.

Trying to keep her entertained, he reached out and stuck her tiny fingers in his mouth and said, "Daddy's gonna eat your fingers," pretending to eat them and then went back to packing.

He looked up again and his daughter was standing on the bed staring at her fingers with a devastated look on her face.

He said, "What's wrong, honey?"

She replied, "What happened to my boogie?

Took two otc sleeping pills many hours ago...still wide awake but brain too muddled to read. Will sleep all day...something I've been trying to avoid and sleep like a normal person(hence sleeping pills)

A parent threw away favorite toys when I was not looking. A stuffed black and tan cocker spaniel named Farfel that I had from infancy....and my original Barbie with a massive wardrobe.

My four legged child now wants his own account and a facebook page! Thanks alot Frisbee and Mags!

You have my greatest sympathy. I too have been through something similar during the past few weeks and it wasn't until earlier in this week that I was able to ardently begin focusing enough to read again. I started taking 3mg of melatonin and it has worked wonders. Nature's Bounty Melatonin, 3 mg, 240 Tablets. As much as providers tell us "brands" don't matter, I have found this one is particularly effective whereas others even in a 5g strength have done nothing for me. My son has started taking it the past few nights with fabulous results as well.

CAUTION: But as with any supplement or OTC medication, it is always wise to check with your medical provider first before taking anything new.

Wishing you the very best for a quick solution because I truly know how difficult it becomes especially when reading is impossible as well : )

Good day everyone, so nice to see some missed posters pop up this morning.

Sally, we have missed you and have thought of you often. We're glad you're okay and just busy with the grands and work. Good luck with the new boss everything may sort out just fine, hang in there.

Karl, always a pleasure to have you join us. You always have a good chuckle for us or something very meaningful or interesting to share with us.

KayKay, thank you very much for the book link. I will be picking that one up myself since it is unknown yet whether all of my pain is associated with the diagnosed condition that will addressed during my upcoming surgery or whether there is another underlying issue. I believe our pal Plays may have some interest in that one too, she is surprisingly quiet this morning so perhaps she is getting some badly needed sleep.

💬 Calling out to a few others as well...

@Mieko, please update us on your most recent adventures.
@Leo, how are you doing? Are you writing in earnest again?
@Elle, how have things been going since your birthday?
@Oregon Dreamer and Oregon Fiddler, hope you are both are well and hoping to hear from you again soon.
@GolferGirl, I hope you have been busy using Dr. Dirt's prescription on a daily basis ; )

If your name doesn't appear, it doesn't mean you aren't in our thoughts.

I am partially memory impaired these days so a little help from my friends in this matter would be greatly
appreciated : )

Miss Cluny,
I sorry! I not mean to make trouble for anyone. I dont have facebook -- my human says no facebook for us. I just wanted to thank the nice humans here and help my human. Unfortunately I got a little full of myself and I grounded. Not allowed to place orders. No carrots (not my fault my humans thumb smelled like a carrot). No apples, cause we gave them up. And no buddy. :(
