Actually, all she has to do is convert the itunes to mp3s and she can listen to them on the Fire.

quilt lover says:
Yes, as long as she first converts the songs to mp3 format. You don't need to jailbreak the kindle.

Ok...can you help me a little more and explain how to do this?!?! :)

actually no conversion is required. The Fire supports Non-DRM AAC which is the file format from iTunes so you should be all set. If they are older songs they may still have DRM (copy protection) but for a fee iTunes will convert them to non-DRM.

If what Gen. Discomfort wrote is correct, then you don't have to change them, but if you do, I think it's done through the iTunes Manager. I don't have any iTunes myself, so I can't tell you which specific steps to take.

If the OP's question is "can my daughter install iTunes on the Fire and listen to her songs?", then I believe the answer is no (I could be wrong, but I don't think you can install iTunes on an Android device). However, as others have pointed out, so you can transfer the files to the Fire and listen to them in an Android music app.

There's also apps like DoubleTwist that will play and sync iTunes to an Android device

My Itunes songs are in my Amazon cloud. You should be able to listen to anything in your Amazon cloud on the Fire.

Can I assume that any TV shows/movies would be the same deal as music purchased via iTunes? I can transfer them to a Fire and/or have them in the cloud.

The Amazon cloud would only be available where you have WiFi, yes?

There could be a problem with the format of movies purchased via iTunes. May not be supported on the Fire. I don't know what format movies from iTunes are in.

Whether the Fire can play iTunes movies is a huge question that we can only answer when the Fire comes out. I suspect not but we'll know for sure in 3 to 4 weeks.

R. D. Clark says:
Purchased videos are protected by DRM that makes it very hard to play them on devices other than what they were purchased for. Or even different player software on the same device. Try playing an iTunes video in Windows Media Player. Or a WMV in the Quicktime Player.

I highly doubt that the Fire will be able to play DRM-protected content (except Amazon's) except when there's an app. And there's never been an iTunes app for Android. The individual videos could be converted and stripped of DRM, I'm sure, but that's not a discussion for here and now.

Can you play itunes u courses and youtube online courses on the kindle fire?

Brandi,

She can upload her iTunes songs to the Amazon cloud. I did this for my Fire the other day.

You first need to install the Amazon MP3 uploader on your computer where iTunes is installed. The instructions are here-> http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html/?nodeId=200593730

After you install this on the computer and run it, it will find the songs, albums and playlists in the iTunes library and give you a choice on which ones to upload to the cloud. When it's done, you can now play them on the Fire via streaming from the cloud. Then she can choose on the Fire to download any of them to the Fire for playing when not connected to your WiFi home network.

Have fun!

I used to sync my iTunes with my droid phone with no problem, but the only thing holding me back from purchasing a fire is that I already have a LOT of games and movies from iTunes and they would be worthless on the fire?!

Bob,

Can you tell me how to download music to my kindle fire so I can listen without being on the internet?

I am going to be traveling abroad for awhile, but may not always have access to the internet. Want to make sure I can still listen to tunes without having to carry an ipod.

Thanks

Nanaspez says:
1. plugged my Kindle Fire to my Mac
2. opened a new finder window clicked on Kindle Fire then opened the music folder
3. opened a second finder window, clicked on iTunes
4. with iTunes opened I selected the songs I wanted and did drag and drop
Drag songs from iTunes then drop into your music folder in the Kindle window

Can you download iTunes movies to your kindle via an iPad? Or do you need a MAC computer?

In reply to an earlier post on Jan 7, 2012 8:22:34 PM PST
R. D. Clark says:
The Fire won't play videos from iTunes no matter where you drag them from. But you can't drag and drop files from an iPad anyway.

The Fire wouldn't be able to run any Apple device apps - different operating system.
