I have a first generation kindle fire whose battery won't recharge at all. I would like to know if it is possible to recover data off it? Specifacilly the journal app with the picture of the feather on it? I did do a backup in the app but not email as i did not have email set up on the kindle fire. Thanks for any help. ;)

Perhaps connect to your computer (via USB) and peruse through the files?

I tried that and it won't turn on so i can unlock the kindle fire so my computer does not recognise there is a device in the USB port :(

No, if you can't get it to power up there is no way to access the data on it. Sorry.

Ack.. ok that was what i was afraid of. The kindle fire died due to the micro usb port becoming loose inside the kindle fire. I suppose there is no stop gap fix for that just to get that data? I had been having to hold the chord a very particular way but then because it was in effect using battery while charging as it could no longer charge while off. It just now seems not to be able to get past the first screen to unlock... I have since learned NEVER to use my kindle fire while charging it as this is what causes the micro usb issue... desivn flaw that sucks!!! I am glad amazon replaced it though. I love my kindle a lot to not have one!

No, sorry, if you can't get it to charge by holding the cord in anymore I can't think of any workaround.
