Fire HD e-reader - does it have search?

I can't seem to find if the HD 7" has the search function on its e-reader. Also, does it have all of the features of the Kindle Touch - or extra ones?

Yes, you can search through a book, or search the device itself.

What Touch features specifically are you asking about?

I'm referring to the e-reader part. Questions such as : can I still put books in collections, does it have the menu at the top when you're reading a book (with the search box, menu, back, etc.) I'm hoping it will be at least as good an e-reader as the Touch and Paperwhite. Thank you, Meya.

The Fire doesn't support Collections. There is a "Favorites" area that you can place books, links, apps, etc. in for quick access.

There is a Menu choice that gives you various choices, depending on the formatting of the book. You can access the Table of Contents, Search the book, change the font size, line spacing, and margins.

Fires are not dedicated e-readers. They are LCD backlit tablet devices. You can read on them, but they are much different than the e-ink models. The battery life is much shorter as well, they aren't good for reading in the sun, they are heavier. Most of us prefer reading on our e-ink Kindles. I know I do.

Does the fire have the features of touch such as the dictionary, where you touch a word and the definition comes up, and the ability to highlight text and translate it, etc?

Yes, the fire HD has dictionary functions. You touch and hold a word. The definition pops up with options: note, highlight, share, more... (search in book, wikipedia, web), expand the definition, and translate the definition (several languages).

I really like my HD as an ereader. In spite of the obvious cons mentioned in prior posts, I like it better than my Kindle Touch. It also does text-to-speech and audiobooks, which the Paperwhite does not. Of course, it also has the web, apps, and other functions that I like.
