Lenard, do you have easy access to WiFi?

Bixillarla says:
Only you can decide if you need the 3G. If you have WiFi at home or have access to public free WiFi access then you don't need 3G.

If you don't have WiFi, live where WiFi hotspots are not available or travel alot and are away from WiFi for long periods of time then 3G would be needed.

I have just bought a Paperwhite and need 3g to cover my travels. My old Kindle used yo show a £g simbal but the new one which purports to have it does not. How can I verify that my new device has 3g capabilities?

The Paperwhite only has 3g for downloading eBooks from Amazon & wiki. You have to use WiFi for getting on the Internet for anything else on a Paperwhite.
