When I open an archived Kindle book, the Cruz table will issue a message, "Sorry! The application Amazon Kindle (process com.amazon.kindle) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.". Has anyone else had this isssue, or does any know how to correct this problem? Thanks.

Mine is doing the exact same thing! I would love to have an answer.

I am having the same problem as Damien. I was about to send my Cruz back when I discovered others are having the same problem so thought I'd wait a little while to see if an answer can be found. I also receive the message "Cannot finish download. There is not enough space" when I try to add another app.

I had the same problem. I didn't upgrade the firmware first as the instructions say to. I deleted the Kindle app, upgraded the firmware, reinstalled the Kindle app, (just so I was sure I had a clean, uncorrupted app) and no problem now! I also downloaded Overdrive for android from the Overdrive website, so now I have library ebpubs and Kindle available on one ereader. At last! I am a happy camper. Kindle, epubs and color! Plus other useful apps. I also find it is not tiring to read on, unlike many people say with a backlit screen. I use this unit at home, and carry my regular kindle2i with me to work, etc. Now this is for the Cruz tablet, I am not sure about the Cruz reader. Hope this helps!

I apologize for not replying sooner. I did the update several weeks back then reloaded Kindle. I still have a few books that will shut down the application, but it is better. Thank you for the help.

I had to upload the Firmware update then reload kindle. It helped, but the fix didn't fixt the problem 100%. I hope you have better success then I.

I haven't had any problems with any of the books I have opened/read.
Seems to be working as it should. Are these books you downloaded directly from Kindle? Or another website like Smashwords? Just a thought. I have had problems with even some Kindle books on my Kindle, had to delete and then download again. Hope it works better for you. I downloaded Overdrive, and that is great, able to download books directly from my public library! Awesome feature. Let me know how it goes.

I'm not sure why, but I have 3 books that will force Kindle to close down. They seem to work fine on my other devices I have Kindle loaded on. Who knows? I'll look into Overdrive. This sounds like a great program. Beyond that, thank you for corresponding. Its always refreshing to hear from others who care enough to take time out of their busy schedules to give some advice. Great job.

If you got the books that are causing problems from Amazon, could they be Topaz format? A small percentage of Amazon's Kindle books are (I think the file extensions are .tpz and .azw1), and they have been known to cause problems for the Kindle, so maybe they are doing the same thing to the app.

I'm not sure if the books are in the "Topez" format. I have three books that want to open with everything other than my Cruz Tablet. No one seems to know why. Everything else is working out though, so I'm pretty happy. Thank you for responding and have a great year.

@ Jazzy: I'm thinking about getting a tablet and prefer one that is Android based. Is it hard to get the Kindle app. on them without doing some kind of hack? I'll always read on my Kindle but would like a tablet for on the road. I've got to do a lot of research on them first LOL

Hi Wanda. I would recommend the Cruz Tablet. If you buy one, update the firmware first then load the Kindle app. You shouldn't have any problems after this. As to my problem, I think it stems from how the book was formatted when published. Good luck.

I second Marina's advice on this. I updated, then reloaded the Kindle app (Kindle was installed out of the box on my Cruz tablet, so I uninstalled it first), and no prob. I do have one book that closed Kindle, but I think this is due to the formatting as well. I do love reading on my Kindle, but the tablet is a nice alternative to have, especially if I need to be checking email or researching something. I do recommend the Cruz, it takes some getting used to, but once you have tweaked it to your needs, you are good to go.

I also have a micro cruz tablet I just bought recently. I installed the kindle app 1st thing with no trouble. I have some books direct from amazon but most are books that I converted to mobi then transfered to the sd card. Today I was scrolling thru the books looking for something to reread when it closed. Since then I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling several times, deregistered at amazon. I've tried resetting the cruz, turning off then back on. After finding the suggestions here I tried that. Updated the firmware, installed from a fresh download again and still all I get is the application error. It won't even open so I can register the device at amazon any more. Really Really frustrated right now.

Did you fixed the problem? I'm not able to use the kindle application anymore, the notice pop up like in three seconds after opening it.

I still haven't figured out why it happens, but I did find that if I copy the kindle folder from the sd card to the computer then delete off the sd card, it will let me reinstall and sign in to amazon again. 1st uninstall kindle app, then connect cruz to your computer, copy the kindle folder, then delete it from sd card. After disconnecting from your computer install the kindle app again and when you open it you should be able to log in.
I've had to do this a few times already, I've hunted for reasons it does this and so far nothing. I've tried downloading a new copy of kindle app from the cruz marketplace and from the amazon app store. They are different from the preloaded app though. I've tried extracting but they never work for me. If anyone knows how to install the newer apps I would appreciate instructions. As it is everytime it messes up and rebooting doesn't work I do what I said above. Then you have to go thru the hassle of putting your books back on the card. Hope this helps and if anyone has found a permament solution to this problem I would sure love to know it :).

In reply to an earlier post on Feb 13, 2012 5:53:57 AM PST
My cruz came with the Kindle app on it already and I have not had any problems, most books I download come from Amazon though.
