Many Active Content games work on the Paperwhite, but not all, at least at this point. I suggest going to the product page for each of those games and see if the Paperwhite is listed as a compatible device.

My words games all work, but Pirate Stash does not. Some just need to be updated, some may not work on touch screens at all.

I have my Basic, so I can just play any games on it that won't transfer to the Paperwhite. The tradeoff for me is worth it.

The Yoga active content book doesn't work on Paperwhite. :(

Can you add games to the Paperwhite, Netflix?

Thank you,

flipoid says:
The Paperwhite is an e-ink reader, Jennipher. It will not do video (Netflix); the refresh rate of e-ink is too slow to handle video. The e-ink readers are for reading only, plus some "Active Content" games (some crossword and other word-type games, a few Hidden Object games).

If you want Netflix, you need a Fire or another tablet device/computer.

Even if you could how would you listen to it?? No sound at all. But no, e-ink devices will not do any video at all.

Here are the games and apps that will work on the Paperwhite:

There are 219 as I post this.

Yes, I keep forgetting (because I don't have one) that the Paperwhite doesn't have audio, either.

Thank you!! I'm a little new to this, how do you find this while on the Kindle Paperwhite?

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 26, 2012 7:07:49 PM PST
flipoid says:
Go to the Kindle Store. You might be able to search for "Active Content"; I'm not sure if that's a category or not.

Bufo Calvin says:
Yes, flipoid, that's correct.

Jennipher, from the homescreen, tap the shopping cart at the top of the screen. You'll see a choice that says

Games and Active Content

That's the same search I pasted here for use on the computer.

Kindles are generally smart enough to only show you compatible items. :)

How do I get it to show up on kindle after buying and supposedly downloading

I followed the directions on here and when I downloaded it - it just showed up on the main home page at the top :)

Any chance the Pogo Card Games will ever work on the the paperwhite. I just got mine yesterday and like the display but am disappointed I can't use my Pogo card games from my keyboard e-reader on the paperwhite. Thanks.

Were they active content games from Amazon?

Yes, they worked fine on keyboard kindle but paperwhite doesn't support. Would like to play card games once in awhile. Thanks

In reply to an earlier post on Jan 31, 2013 1:36:24 PM PST
Ah, I see them. There must be something about how they are played that prohibits them from being used on the Paperwhite. You could still use your Kindle Keyboard for those games.

Bufo Calvin says:
Vic, when you bought it, did you tell it to be sent to that device?

If not, and I presume we are talking about active content for a reflective screen Kindle here (not a Fire), you can send it from

That's also presuming you got it from the Kindle store, of course.

You might also need to sync your device. You don't mention which kind of Kindle you have, but try

Home - Menu - Sync

Thanks wish I could but it simply stopped working. It was older and just won't go on. Charges, but front screen is all distorted. Oh well.

If you're referring to this POGO Hearts, Spades and More game, it works on the Touch, so it probably wouldn't be too hard to modify it to work on the Paperwhite. You'd have to contact the developer (Electronic Arts) to find out if/when it will be compatibile with the Paperwhite.

mldeitrich says:
Thanks that is the one I am looking for. I will try and contact the developer. Thanks for your help.

Please give me a list of games that will work on kindle paperwhite.

In reply to an earlier post on May 23, 2013 9:05:46 AM PDT
Howard, look here:

You'll need to check individual games to see if they will work on the Paperwhite.

I have checked each of these games you posted Bufo Calvin. None of them will appear on my paperwhite. They do work on the basic kindle. but not the paperwhite.
Do you know of others that will work on paperwhite?

Is the operating system of the paperwhite different from the operating system of the basic kindle? Both are e-readers, so I thought that the games that worked on the basic would work on the paperwhite.

Mahjong Solitaire from Mobigloo, Blackjack, Dots and Boxes, Every Word, Number Slide, Shuffled Row, Video Poker, and My Checklist from Amazon Digital Services, and Scrabble from EA all run on my PW2.

You can't trust the product pages when they say a game is PW compatible. They are often wrong. i think that would apply to any search based on that data too.
