Ok, but what is the nature of the problem(s)?

The only problem I see is a lack of trailing "]]"

I have a Kindle Touch that refuses to start up when I depress the 'on' switch. The indicator light turns on for just a couple of seconds and then disappears without any start up of the reading screen. The power supply should be okay as the bar indicator showed three quarter filled the last time I was able to use the machine. To ensure adequate power, I connected the power cord and tried again with the power cord installed and the charge lamp lit. Would love hearing from anyone who has had similar problems and solved the trouble. Ray

Do a hard reset and if that does not solve the issue, contact Kindle support.

Hard reset - Remove charging cable. Press and hold power button for 30 seconds (time it). Put the Kindle down and don't touch until home screen shows up (this may take several minutes).

Contact Kindle support - click on help at the top of the page and then contact us button on the next page. I recommend phone contact to resolve the issue quickest.

I just got a Kindle Fire a couple of days ago and so I am new to the whole thing. I have loaded books onto my kindle from my computer but they are not all showing up in my kindle library. I figured out that I can not keep them in file folders on my kindle so I listed them individually, the books I have loaded are in Mobi format and still not all the titles are showing. Please help I am getting frustrated!

New Girl says:
Look under documents tab instead of books. Sometimes the Fire does not recognize them as books when they are not from Amazon directly.

Vickie.....thank you, thank you, thank you. I've had my kindle keyboard for about 3 years, with nary a problem. Today, while reading the Wall Street Journal, the kindle aborted the document, with a warning that the document was corrupt, that I'd have to download it from archive. Then the screen locked up. No amount of pounding or shifting or swearing would resolve the lockup. Thanks to your advice about a hard reset, I'm back with my one true love.

I'm glad it worked, Timothy.

Happy reading.

I have a Kindle Touch (I got in Feb of this year) and I'm having trouble with books not loading. This has just started in the past week or so. I touch to open it up and I get an error message saying there is an issue with the book, to delete it and redownload from the archives. Well, I don't have a "delete" option so I just move to archives and then redownload but it doesn't do any good. And its not just a book here or there...it's at least 1/2 of them and its ones I downloaded weeks ago and just haven't read yet.

I've also been having trouble with the font, but I've read the discussion on that already. I don't remember seeing this issue though: Probably because of the font, I've had issues with pages skipping when I touch for the next page. Or it skipping whole paragraphs. I don't know if that related to the font issue that came with the update but its only on books that have the font trouble.

Also, some times when I touch for the next page, instead of going to the next page it will bring up the "before you go" page like I'm finished with the book, when I'm clearly not. I touch back and forth and eventually it will go to the next proper page. But its annoying. Again, that happens mostly on books that have the font issue, so I think they are related some how.

Anyone else having these issues?

cjsweat - first off try de-registering your Kindle under settings. Do not remove content. Then re-register your Kindle. Often you will have problems opening Kindle books if the registration info becomes corrupt and this just refreshes it.

If that does not work, then do a hard reset by ensuring the Kindle is fully charged. Remove the charging cable. Press hold and the power button for 30 seconds (time it). Then put the Kindle down. It will take a few minutes but don't try to push any buttons until the home screen is fully loaded.

These two steps resolve a lot of issues with the Touch. Let us know how you make out.

Thanks. I just spent an hour with the online chat support doing every thing imaginable to try to get it to work, only for them to come to the decision that its a problem with my device, not the content (which is what I figured since it just started having issues about a week ago and has progressively gotten worse). So they are sending me a replacement since I'm still under warranty.

But I'll keep your information in mind for future reference should I have any more problems! Thanks again!

i would try a hard reboot, hold the button down for about one and a half minutes. that may do it. i also shook it up and a couple of times and this seems to have worked. also.

this info was given to by a concierge at the sanfransico, ca hyiatt.
she also told me that this happens from time to time
good luck.

I got my kindle in may of this year. Went to use it today and it doesn't recognize ant touch to the screen. ?? Any advise? I thought I'd turn it off to "re-boot" it. But you have to tap the screen to shut it down and it doesn't respond to any touch at all. I'm very very dissatisfied!

Tiffany, press and hold the power button for a full 30 seconds to reboot your Touch. Set it down and be patient, as this takes a couple of minutes.

Shutting it off and turning it back on is not the same thing.

Hi Vickie my kindle would not turn on, it is 8 months old. followed your idea and it is now ok again. It did a reboot on irtself earlier today, when I picked it up it was re loading all my books. I began to panic, how would I manage without books if I had to wait for a replacement!?

I have an amazon kindle, a search bar has appeared at the top of the screen and i have tried everything to get rid of it, it blocks the top part of the book i am reading, i have not read anything now for over 2 weeks and having withdrawal symptoms

@Wendy - Have you tried rebooting? Unplug your Kindle, then press or slide and hold the power button for a full 30 seconds, release, and wait for it to restart.

If that didn't work for you, you'll need to contact support. Click the 'Help' link at the top or bottom of any Amazon site page, then press the 'Contact Us' button. There's no need to go without your Kindle for another 2 weeks...

same problems for awhile and then I dropped it and now it is that way all the time. I guess it is time for a new one but I will downsize to a Kindle Touch this time and they are unavailable.

How do I get my kindle to recognize my wi-fi? Under Wi-Fi it indicates there are no networks, but my wi-fi is fine - my phone is using it no problems.
