Yes, it's possible. When you go to the product page, under the "buy" button there's a "give as a gift" button. Click that. You just need the person's email address.

You can gift an Ebook, on the book page under the Buy Now is a Give as Gift. Click that and enter the email address of who you want to send the ebook too.

Of course, the ebooks will only work on Kindle devices or Kindle apps.

The person receives an email, and then can walk thru the download of that specific ebook.

Eagles mom ?

It's also worth noting that we can now choose a date for delivery of the e-mail with the gift. That's a great improvement!

:(...

We're sorry, we could not complete your purchase.

We're sorry, we could not complete your gift purchase because your Kindle account is registered to Amazon.es. Only Kindle accounts registered to Amazon.com are currently eligible to purchase Kindle Book gifts.

Can it be done from amazon.co.uk (the UK site)?

I would think that the only way to find out is either to try it, or call Customer Service and ask.

The gift button doesn't appear anywhere on my book page from my UK account. Since I posted the question, I glanced at Fran Simo's entry just above mine. I think that answered my question. Thanks.

Can I use the Amazon Gift Card Balance as payment option to give an E-Book as a gift?

Try it and see.

Yes, you can. I do that all the time.

Your gift card balance will always be used first for purchases.
So, yes.

But HOW because when I click the book as a gift the Gift Card balance doesn't appear.

Is it your gift card?

It will show on your receipt.

You can just delete your other payment method, whatever debit or credit card is there. It'll still go through if there's enough gift card credit there so, obviously, you'll know it was charged to the gift card balance. For what it's worth, I also don't like not seeing that or promotional credit balance until *after* the purchase.

So frustrating! Changed my account to amazon.com.au from amazon.com and am no longer able to send eBooks as gifts! Such a stupid thing! And I can't change it back.

I've seen Australians say they were able to switch back - might want to ask in this Aussie thread:

Could you create a second account at Amazon.com to use for gifting?

What are you talking about? Which eBooks don't have the "Buy now with 1-Click" button?

Also, if you wanted to gift them to your granddaughter (or to anyone, you would click the "Give as a Gift" button, if they are on another account other than yours, you just need their email address & they can put it on their account.
