I am using my kindle fire for many things and so far I like it a lot. However, I can not seem to find a spanish keyboard and I have been unable to find a way to alter the english keys to have accents and such. Does anyone know anything that could help me out?

You can get Spanish characters by doing a long press in the closest key. For instance a long press in n will offer you an ñ, á for a, etc.

Still, typing in Spanish (or any non-English language) is a pain because the word corrector tries always to type the English word it thinks you are typing wrong. I wish there was a way to install dictionaries for other languages but I haven't found the way so far.

But still I can't put accents except á.

where can I get this update? or how can I change the language and dictionary as you describe because I'm quite sure my Kindle is up-to-date.

Thanks so much for this information! Now, I can create my Spanish flashcards in my StudyBlue app with the proper accents and punctuation.

In Costa Rica, where I live, almost no one uses Spanish language keyboards anymore except for legal documents, academic use and other formal uses. Most people just use the regular English language keyboard and don't worry about the special characters.

However, there are keyboard apps that support Spanish and other language special characters. The most popular is SwiftKey

It has full support for Spanish and most other major languages and you can work with three different languages simultaneously. All you have to do is download the language packs you're interested in. Here's the link to their help pages for other languages:

The auto-correct, predictive text and voice input features also work in Spanish and are usually very reliable.
