I am looking for the title ans/or author of a book I read back in the 1980's. The story was about a man who worked as a welder on a skyscraper. He was a bit of a loner, with a few friends from work. One day while at work he falls from the building to the ground and lives. People hear about the story and believe it was a miracle. His life is turned upside down because of the publicity. I believe the antagonist of the story is a former Hollywood movie actor turned politician (ala Ronald Reagan). I think at some point in the story he realizes that his time is running out an he has something he needs to do.
I would love to read this story again,if anyone remembers the title. Thank you!

Tell the truth, Mikey, you only clicked on it to say "Google is your friend," right?

I am tracking this discussion. I put the book on my wishlist.

Q. Is it really Anti-catholic or ignorant of Catholic teaching? Most people who are Anti-catholic have never taken the time to learn what the Church teaches. Is this book as good as you remember?

Well, that might be because the 'Second Son' title refers to that the guy may be the second coming of Jesus...

I read this book back when it first came out - back before the internet when book club editions were the norm...
