My crystal ball says "No".

Why discount a $269 device down to $149 when it sells great at the current price point? You can save $20 by typing "DADSFIRE" as a code somewhere.

"their" not "there"

Amazon has dropped the prices on the Fire HDs. They have no incentive to "match" what B&N has been doing. B&N is simply trying to get rid of their stock before the ship sinks.

King Al says:
Highly unlikely. Unlike B&N, Amazon is not in serious financial trouble and thinking of getting out of the hardware business.

Elo says:
Why price match anything?
To get the sale when there is competition between comparable items.

I didn't know any of this.
Where can I read about this?

Looks like you can buy it for that price here at Amazon...

NOOK HD 7" 16GB Tablet @ $149 - sold by Circuit City...

They are getting the sales without price matching. They are already selling the Fires are near cost.

Elo, unless you've been under a rock lately, how have you missed the financial trouble of Barnes & Noble? Their stock has dropped almost 10% just today.

Google is your friend.

King Al says:
You can Google it. It has been reported in various tech and financial websites.

Mike says:
Elo, I suggest you ask Amazon if it will price-match for you. Then, come on back and let us know how it went.

Elo says:
I took your advice, Mike.
And guess what? They price-matched for me!
Thanks for your suggestion!

What, Amazon price-matched the Nook?

Oh, please, they didn't sell you an 8.9 Fire for $149!

Anne Shirley says:
They don't need to. They are a viable business. B&N is dumping their Nooks and the Nook business. Good luck with customer service. But hey - it's cheaper, right? And that's all that ever matters, right?

Nope. Neither did Apple drop their prices. Neither amazon or Apple are trying to unload devices nobody wants.

Did you email them or call them? How did you get the price match? I'd. Love to get that deal! Thanks Elo!
