Kindle 2nd generation, battery problems

We already exchanged it once in the first year of life and again for over 6 months now we tried to recharge but it refuses to budge. It would only run 1 hour and give the warning, Critical Battery, recharge. I have 5 others of these that I bought for family, are all our Kindles going to go the same way. If so I will just use my Ipad, however, its heavier and more trouble to take with me than the lightweight kindle.

I had the same thing happen with my K2 within the first year of having it. Amazon replaced it for me. The replacement is still going strong and is about 3 years old now. I'd say contact Amazon. They may be willing to give you some sort of discount on the next one you purchase but it is pretty far out of the warranty so I suppose there are no guarantees.

I have had the same problem with mine, twice now. The first time Amazon sent me a new power cord and that worked for a while. Now, just 2 months after my warranty expired, it started again. They offered to sell me a refurbished Kindle, at a reduced price, but why would I buy another one that would probably have the same problem? The issue is the port where you plug in the power cord. It gets loose and won't make a good connection. A new cord will only work temporarily, the not at all. This time, they are sending me a power fast charger, and another new cord, but it may just be time to switch to a different tablet altogether. Stay tuned!!
