Can't you just turn parental controls off, download some books, and turn parental controls back on again? Wouldn't that work the same as password protecting the cloud?

Retired EE - You cannot move Kindle books purchased from Amazon around that way. They will open only on the Kindle or device they were specifically dowloaded to.

If that was an answer to my suggestion (it helps if you use the "reply to this post" at the foot of a post you're replying to), are you definitely choosing to enable PCs for the cloud but not books?

It was not an option in the 1st gen fires. My personal solution (mostly because I have hand me down kindles for the kids) will be to have hem use an eink kindle for reading and the fire only for watching shows/playing games. (Makes it easier to control when games/videos are accessed, too). With the lowest end eink kindle being 69$, maybe that is a viable option?

Honestly, I also don't have anything on my account that I wouldn't want a 10 year old reading, but that's just my personal thing... I misty keep things separate at this point so my daughter can find the things she wants.

Sorry if that wasn't much help, but maybe it will?

OK, someone needs a nap - too dramatic for an adult's behavior.

Being more reasonable, you know that all you have to do is not hand your child your KF unless you are available to supervise, since it is you that has the problem with how it works - Amazon (for the time being) seems to be OK with it - they do have to take the needs of more than just the few into consideration.

If you are not willing to do that very basic parental job, then maybe your child isn't ready for a KF & you should return it before the 30 days are up.

That's not what the help pages say.

I would add that if you can't adequately supervise your child from a distance of 3 feet away, something's wrong!

But I see you've decided to throw a hissy fit and delete your earlier posts, so I guess it's all irrelevant now.

Life is rough when you walk into a bar, curse the owners, insult the bartender, jeer the musicians, beat your chest at patrons, and then get some pushback, innit?

LOL.

But apparently you can make it all all right by pretending you were never there in the first place.
