Any one else have these problems with their Kindle 2 ?

The problem first started around the time my new Paperwhite was ordered, and the books I bought were automatically sent to my new 'default' Kindle that I hadn't even received yet. Once I figured out I had to get on the computer and manually select my Kindle 2, the books were no longer being sent to my Paperwhite but they also were still not downloading to my Kindle Keyboard. This is also in the ballpark of time when I updated the software to version 2.5.8. And the second issue came later, which is after three years I have had to replace the battery, and now my battery-life bar no longer recedes with use, so I have no idea when to charge my Kindle until the battery is depleted to the point that the Kindle tells me it needs charged, which, as you may be able to imagine, is inconvienent when traveling. When I first installed the battery it showed a half charge, and I charged it up to full capacity and then the full battery-life bar hasn't moved since. I have restarted the Kindle many times and have just reset it to factory defaults as a last resort, but still no change in either issue. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much for the great suggestion...I hadn't thought to try that. But you're right, it does seem to be hopeless as it did not work either. Just doesn't make sense to me why I can download from my archives (albeit very slowly) and connect to the store, but not download new books when I buy them online. Love the new Kindle Paperwhite, but I had hoped to continue to use my Kindle Keyboard to read at work and travel, and I still can, it's just not as convienient as it once was. Thank you again!

I had a similar download problem with my 3G Touch. Several months ago I stopped getting books and articles sent to it, though I could pull stuff down from the archive. I assumed that it was the size of my archive (I've seen posts where things get a little weird one a certain number of books has been reached).

A week or so ago, about a dozen of the missing articles and books suddenly appeared, and I haven't had problems since. The only thing that I can think of is that I had spent an hour or so where my kindle had access to wifi. Now I had on at least a few occasions connected to wifi for a few minutes ( prob <10) at a time, so I'm wondering if perhaps something (article?) was "stuck" and once it cleared all was good.

I have had my K2 for four years, but I finally bought a Paperwhite, and I am so glad. While I enjoyed the K2, the Paperwhite is well worth the money. You might want to think of upgrading to a newer model. I also bought the Fire HD to download history books, as photos, maps, etc. look great on it. This probably does not help you much, but I just thought that I would let you know that the newer models are definitely worth the switch. Good luck.

Also, is your K2 (which is *not* the same as a Kindle Keyboard) one of the original ones that use Sprint as the 3G provider? Perhaps the Sprint coverage has changed in your area? Or, if it is a later K2 that uses AT&T, I remember when people had trouble connecting, there is a way to go into the settings menu and change the source of the 3G somehow. I am sorry to be so vague; I think it had something to do with refreshing the cell tower info similar to what you can do on a cell phone. Maybe try to search the forum for K2I (International) info?

Lastly, have you called Kindle CS? Maybe they can help you troubleshoot. I have a K2 US, a KK, and a Kindle Basic, and I have no trouble downloading to my K2 US when necessary.
