I've watched the ads on Amazon and am still a little confused. Is this an Amazon lending library, or are the books mine to keep as they are now with outright purchases? Between my husband and I, our purchases go way over $9.99 a month and this would probably be worthwhile. Also, does this apply to new releases which in themselves are often $12.99 per book?

If that's the case, that it is a lending library only, I have that for FREE through the Broward County Florida library system and it would be a waste of money. Thanks for answering my questions.

The one thing that Amazon gives you that your library probably doesn't is the Whispersync. Some, not all books have the linked narration included. Whether that makes a difference to you or not, only you will know.

It is worth it to me to pay the $9.99 per month to Amazon for the lending library so that I don't have to wait for it to be available from county library when I find a book and want to read it.

I signed up for the 30 day free trial and love it. I can borrow up to 10 at once, I added until it told me that just to see, lol. Now I load one, read it, return it and get the next in the series if it's available on KU. I have tons of books I want to read but not necessarily buy. I have authors that are automatic buys, Grace Burrowes, Jennifer Ashley, G.A. Aiken for example, but I ended up with so many in my wishlist or that I'd buy for .99, that I didn't know what to read next. I'd love it if the major publishers also signed on but it still saves me a bundle. If they did join in, I'd willingly pay more than $9.99 a month. My checkbook might relax a little then. One book a month loan on Prime just didn't work for me, as I easily read a book a day. KU also has many of the novellas I was interested in but I don't like to buy unless they are in one of my favorite series.
