Lisa Tedder says:
I have the Kindle Keyboard and love it, BUT I would love it if I could read it in the dark. Any lights I have used only light up one part of the page, and it's very annoying. I don't read in the dark very often, but want the capability to do it.
I've been thinking about getting the Fire HD but wonder if you can read in the dark.
Is it worth it? Mostly I read, but think it would be nice to watch a movie or read email.
TIA, Lisa Tedder

The Fires are backlit, just like a computer or phone, so you can read in the dark.

The Fire has an LCD backlit screen, just like your computer monitor. That means you can read in the dark, but not out in the sunshine. Many people do not like reading on a backlit screen. Unless you want the other features of the Fire, you may want to consider the Paperwhite.
