Does anyone know when the new kindle E-Readers are coming out, im not sure whether to wait or buy a Paperwhite?

No one knows for sure but Amazon usually releases new devices around October.

None of us here know the answer to your question. We are just customers like yourself, and Amazon doesn't share their plans with us.

Frequently they release new products in the early fall, September, October etc. but there is no guarantee that they will do so this year.

So the answer to your question... whether to buy or wait... is yes.

We are only customers, not Amazon reps, so we have no information about what may be coming. I haven't seen any rumors about new e-ink Kindles, but that doesn't mean there will not be any. New Kindles are usually announced in September, so if history is any sort of predictor, we might be hearing something in a few weeks.

The same answer 3 different ways!

At least we're consistent!

The 3rd gen model was announced in July. Both the Touch and Paperwhite models were announced in Sept. So I would expect that the next generation models may be announced by the end of next month.

I'm holding out another month or six weeks. I'd like a PW also, but am hoping new models will be announced in the next month or so.

I have a PW... and a KK... and a basic Kindle... and a Kindle 2... but I will buy the new one when it comes out. I have given up even pretending that I will think about it.

I have an E-reader addiction.

I have a DX I barely read on and a KK. The apps on my phone and tablet shouldn't count, right? My KK was barely a year old when the PW came out, and I just couldn't justify another device to myself. I tried. I *really* tried. But I couldn't. I got close enough to put PWs in my cart, but not close enough to buy.

I will buy a PW the second new ones are announced though. Won't even bother waiting for the first wave to hit the general public.

Other than adding additional memory and a faster processor, how do you envision the evolution of future Kindles? While I admit that a color e-ink screen would be a plus for reading charts and graphics, I find the current Paper White model fills my reading needs quite nicely.

I'm not sure what changes might be on the way. My personal wish list would be the basic with a 3G option. If it could include the light (as long as it does NOT involve a touch screen), that would be nice, but not essential.

I am hoping that the new PW will have a faster processor and a continuous light to eliminate the cones. I don't notice them at all when I am reading, but aesthetically it would be nice.

My husband would like that. He likes the Basic for games, reading too, but he doesn't like the way the Paperwhite handles the games. I think it's fine, but he prefers the buttons.

I don't think I've ever played a game on any e-ink Kindle. I do play a few on the Fire - I finally finished Sparkle (only tried for over a year to do that on a PC), so now I'm tackling Sparkle 2.

I tried playing games on my Kindle Keyboard when I got it but it wasn't for me. My Kindles are for reading only.

He likes Thread Words and Every Word. I play them too, but not as much as he does. He will not advance in either game until he finds every solution. I on the other hand will forfeit a game if I can't figure out the obscure words.

I like Jig Saw Words too.

With the Kindle Fire being $40 off right now, I am assuming a new Fire is in the works for Sept/October. I even read an article at cnn.com/tech about this.
