How can I borrow a book from Kindle Lending Library online - or can I only borrow from device (slow, awkward). This is first time I posted on this Forum - don't know if it will work. Signed: dpi4321

You can only borrow from the device. You can find the book online though and then search for it with the device.

You have to be on the device.

Thanks for reply; disappointing, but answers the Q. Can I search "only" online Lending Library" (i.e., can I "limit my search" to "borrowable books" only, or do I have to browse through ALL books & "happen to find" one I can borrow, rather than buy?

I am new to Amazon discussions. Do you know "base link" for Forum? Do you know "base link" for Kindle Lending Library?"

I search for the books on-line on my computer as opposed to my Kindle. When a book is available, the library sends me e-mail on my computer and I follow the instructions in the e-mail to put the book on the Kindle. So, the only thing I use the Kindle for is the actual reading. Everything else is done on my computer. I imagine it would be very hard to search the lending library on the Kindle if it's not a Fire.

1) When on the front page of Amazon take a look at the search function near the top of the page.

2) Don't put anything in the search box. Select "Books" in the department drop down box. Click on the "Go" button.

3) You will now see pretty much all of Amazon's books. All 34+ Million of them. Select "Kindle Edition" in the Formats you see up at the top of the results list.

4) Now you have all 1+ Million Kindle books. Over on the left side of the screen is further filters. Go all the way near the bottom of the long list of filters is a check box for "Prime Eligable". Click on it.

Thank you for all replies... WOW - lots to learn about my (new) Kindle. I have a DX (the larger screen helpful for me to read (vision issues). No touch screen... using keyboard takes LONG time; tiny keys, same color as device make it difficult; kinda like walking in sand in heavy boots! Trying to find books online that I can order (slowly) from device. :)

I found it helpful to look for books online, adding the ones I might want to borrow to a special wishlist I named "prime kindle". Then each month I can use my Kindle to go to that wish list and choose a book.

After I follow the directions that Pat listed above, when I find one I want to borrow I add it to my "Prime Lending" wish list. That way, when I'm getting the book from my Kindle, I don't have to search for the book again--I can just click on it from my wish list.
