It is heard that a Color Kindle (e-ink one, not the Fire) is coming out soon? Is it true?

No one here would know that. No one will know until (or if) Amazon announces it.

Anybody can say anything. It only counts when Amazon says it, and they haven't.

No-one knows, although Erin is spouting a bit of BS there in rebutting it so vigorously. There are a couple of other colour e-ink readers on the market already, and people do pay for them (just as people paid $400-odd for the first kindles themselves).

The reason for the rumours circulating at the moment is that Amazon acquired Liquivista in May, so they now own rights to technology that will do it.

BTW - The Ectaco is made in Russia-with government subsidy support-and still can't sell.

No BS. There is an Ectaco Jet Book on EBay for $379.00...and no bidders for it at that price. The Ectaco is not a hot seller, and never will be...since better things are available at lower prices. When people paid $400.00 for the first Kindles, there were no Fires, iPads, etc, available at lower prices. There are now. The Ectaco Jet Book has a retail price of $599.95, and is not selling at that. It has a "Member's Price" of $499.95, and is not selling at that. It can't even get a bid of $379.00 on Ebay. Amazon, etc, are noticing Ectaco's failure...and are not anxious to duplicate it.

1) The Jetbook Color is 9.7" - in other words, a similar size to (actually slightly larger than) the DX. I don't see how you can extrapolate from the sales of that to sales of a smaller colour e-ink device.
2) Do you actually have any sales figures from Ectaco, or are you just inventing zero sales figures?
3) Goodness knows where you get your price figures from! On the Ectaco site the price is $499.95. No "members price" garbage - that's the price. On Amazon (via a 3rd party seller) it's around the $480 mark. And I'm certainly not seeing the same thing on ebay as you are - cheapest one is $449 and the seller of that has sold at least 10 others.
4) If Amazon thought colour e-ink was so unprofitable, why would they spend up towards $100M to buy a company that makes it?

I never said that the Ectaco is a hot seller. The question was, is Amazon going to bring out a colour e-ink model? And the best answer any customer can give, based on what's around and recent events, is... possibly.

I simply took issue with your vehement negative, which is as much BS (because you know no more than the rest of us) as you said the rumours are.

What you said about comics is wrong though. Panel view works just fine for B&W comics on the Paperwhite. You don't need to zoom and pan; you just tap and it jumps from one panel to the next. That doesn't require a faster refresh rate. The only thing that keeps me from buying most graphic novels for the Kindle is the lack of color. I just wish Amazon was better at getting more of the black and white graphic novels, like Maus, the Bone omnibus, or non-terrible manga. At least Yotsuba is finally coming out on Kindle this year (about time since it's the comic shown in the on-device demonstration for panel view).
