I spend much more than$10/month for books that I don't want to own, so this is nothing short of brilliant!

The surprise is that Audible books are included.

There is a free 30 day trial available.

I don't think you're going to find popular best sellers; I looked thru the scifi section. Lots of books but mostly old or self-pub.
I'll pass for now.

Me too. Not a single author I follow is participating. Hopefully more will and then we'll see. It will be great for the audible fans tho.

I scanned through the offerings and found many books I want to read, but not purchase. The selections will get better as time goes on. For now, I am quite content with what is being offered.

I think it's going to depend on a lot on reading history and preferences. I like a lot of the paranormal, zombies etc, so for me there will be a lot there, for someone who prefers the NYT best sellers list, probably not.

Meh.. might have been nice before I loaded up my Kindle library with a couple hundred (ok, thousand) books over the years.. I've already got enough books to read to last me a decade or two..

I have done the same thing, but still spend much more than $10/month on Kindle books, so I figure 30 days will give me time to test drive this latest Amazon offering before I decide if it is worth the price or not.

KU also gives you three Audible credits - one immediately during free trial and one for two additional months.

Unlike most Audible deals, this is available to current members. At the very least, this is a good deal on credits for $9.99 even if you don't like books currently available.

I like that! Three Audible credits is excellent!

Is this worth it though if we already have Amazon Prime or the lending library as well? I'll try it for 30 days and see how it goes. Kudos though to Amazon for this. :)

Most of the authors I read aren't published by the big 5 so I was hoping at least one of them would be represented in this deal, unfortunately not a single one of them has any titles listed. It looks like they cherry picked a few titles for the front page but filled the rest of the catalog with books they can't give away...

The prime and lending library is one book a month, this is unlimited.

The other big advantage is for people who don't have a kindle, because, unlike the lending library, they can use apps on the pc, tablet, phone etc.

I was excited until I checked my wish list. Out of 218 books, only 1 was available for Kindle Unlimited. In my "Prime Lending" wish list, 64 of 68 books were available. Not sure how this will play out if they can't get the big publishers (or even some more small press publishers) on board. For me,it's not worth the money if I can't get the books/authors I want/like to read. Oh well, have to wait and see what happens next.

I am sure I will use them on Whispersync books where the Audible version costs $12.99.

I just read all 8 Outlanders using Whispersync in 5 weeks.

I've already found over 6.. LOL.

In reply to an earlier post on Jul 18, 2014 7:17:59 AM PDT
I don't use KOLL. I really like to have Whispersync available and that feature is not available using KOLL.

I get the daily deal email from Audible, and usually buy 3~5 of them a month (@ $2.99 ~ $5).. which is more than enough for my listening.

Can you borrow more than one book at a time? In other words, can I borrow a book on my Kindle and my son borrow one on his at the same time? Both devices are on the same account.

Posted on Jul 18, 2014 7:22:30 AM PDT
Does the $9.99/month cover all Kindle devices under one account?

In reply to an earlier post on Jul 18, 2014 7:23:32 AM PDT
I would like to know the answer of this question too!

Keep in mind that right now there are only 6,000 audible books.

ETA: I see the Professor says 2,000 audiobooks. Not a great many.
