I have the OXO digital scale, about $50. It's great. I use it to weight everything. It has that all-important "tare" button, which allows you to zero out the weight of the container, and then zero out after added each ingredient so that you can accurately weigh the next one. It also switches from lb/ounce to grams.

Thanks SK.
As a baker I knew YOU would have a very handy scale. I'll check it out on ZOON. Is THIS the one?

Oxo Good Grips Food Scale with Pull-Out Display

They had three....but this one was the closest to 50 bux.

I'm also in the midst of deciding; it's come down to a draw between the 11lb OXO already touted above, the Ultra Thin Digital LCD Stainless Steel 5kg/11lb Kitchen Scale and the Ultra Thin Professional Digital Kitchen Food and Nutrition Scale, in Elegant Stainless Steel -- On Sale With Free Super Saver Shipping. I like being able to switch between fractions and decimals while the scale is in use. And I'd really like the stainless dish to be removable for cleaning... which I know OXO's version does, but I'm not clear on the other two. Any thoughts, o bakers of amazonia?

I thought I heard a rumor the the scales no longer go up to 11 lbs....only 4 or 5.

Clarification pleeze.

the link in the third message of this thread leads to the 11lb version... does it not? Anywhoo, if that's been nixed from the product line, then it's out of the running!

I own the Oxo Food Scale and love it. My son, who brews beer, has stolen it from our kitchen so many times (and always hated returning it: ".. why do YOU need it??") that I finally tucked one under the Christmas tree for him on Christmas 2009. He was very happy! The scale is clear, easy to use, can handle large quantities OR tiny little spice amounts, tares when you are weighing food for cooking or weight loss programs--- just great all around. Highly recommended!

EatSmart Precision Pro Digital Kitchen Scale, White The best I've ever had. I use it to measure ingredients for baking and for portion control and it has never let me down. Weighs up to 11lbs; displays ounces/lbs/grams/kgs
3 Minute Auto-Shutoff feature, has tare, large display, uses 2 AAA batteries, great price, 2 year guarantee, and look at it's feedback--990 and ALL 5 stars!
