What are the best books on Practical Spell Casting. Something for a beginner. I'm not interested in the religious aspects, and would prefer not to invest too much money in tools.

Jade Dove says:
First things first- if you don't want to follow a religious path- your best bet would be to take on a Solitary- Pagan / Eclectic path as spell casting entails the practicing of crafts of any or various sorts.

The book you would be looking for to help you work on a means of skill building: Practical Magic for Beginners: Techniques & Rituals to Focus Magical Energy: by Brandy Williams

Later on when focused and skilled enough- try these:

Spell Castings: Practical Magick for Daily Life by Sister Moon

Spellcraft: Practical Spells for Modern Life by Ann-Marie Gallagher

Spellweaving: A Book of Spells and Practical Magic by Sally Morningstar

Practical Magic: A Book of Transformations, Spells and Mind Magic

Another really great starters book, one that I continually learn from, and one that you can just open a random page to and start reading (great for casting advice by paying attention to the words and their relation to your question) is "The Book of Lies" by the Disinformation Company. Think of it as your "chicken soup for the magician's soul"

Another great one for accelerated universal interactions (aka-magic): "Hands-On Chaos Magic: Reality Manipulation through the Ovayki Current"

Happy Hunting :)

"practical candle burning rituals" is a fun book to experiment with. it's the one book I started with and still use all the time.
