LOL, Rain, I know what you mean. I use a free program and it's truly limited. I've found I can put the words in a fairly empty spot on the picture, and if you have the words move, it usually makes them all readable at some point.

OK, there's the new url, Rain. I like that one MUCH better. I'm certainly no expert, but I do like the trailers to be a minute or less, and just hint at the story - makes me want to read it to find out what happens. I've also found that movement (either in the pictures or the blurb or both), make it more interesting to me.

Hi everyone! Please take a look at the trailer for my fantasy novel, Tredan's Bane. In the story, a magical oddities dealer hides her kidnapped husband's dangerous spell book.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks,

I liked it. The photos, the music, and the lengh was awesome. The font was the only issue for me. Maybe another type of font? Also it was kind of hard to read at times. Other than that, it looked great. :)

Lita, a great video - perfect music and pictures. A little long for my likes - I think you're trying to tell too much. And Michelle is right - try making the font bigger and use a dark color on the lighter backgrounds.

Lita,

Loved the images and music but I think you give too much away in the text. You should tease more. I few less words would have a stronger impact. Still a great job there.

Lita, The girls have said it all.

Well since it seems so quiet over here how about I put up another of my trailers? This one is for the short story I plan on making free next month. Not as nice as the other two but well the images are all mine. I tend to take a ton of photos and use them in little music videos over on Youtube. Let me know what you think!

MM, that worked. Very cool. A whole street disappears? This could be interesting.

Jeff, That was the idea. A short that I came up with a bit ago. I was hoping the video didn't seem too...what word to use? Amateurish? childish? The story is a fun little thing a friend challenged me to write and I decided to put it up as one of my shorts. I have two more videos in the book trailer category up on Youtube. I'll post the other two in a bit.

Lisa, not at all. It reminded me of a Twilight Zone episode. Well done.

Jeff, Thank you. That was what I intended. After all Harry, the hero, is sorta a supernatural cop...as my one reviewer called him. I do love using my own photos to make videos though. Lets try another one, see if you guys like this one.

and since I don't know which will work: Passing the Torch, short story trailer

<iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/W7w39QpOp3w" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Hopefully one of these will work right for you guys. I have one more but it isn't for a book on Amazon...it is for over on Smashwords, so not sure I should post here?

Sorry I didn't have time to comment on the first one earlier, Lisa - very good job on both of them - perfect length, and good music choices. On the 'Passing the Torch' video, you might consider making the font larger and having it move - on some of the pictures it was pretty washed out and hard to read.

MM...yeah I know. That was the first of the book trailers I made. I am still getting fonts down. I think I should not try the invisible setting.

Thanks mountainmama...your comment means a lot.

I've done about a dozen videos now, using Windows Live Movie Maker. It's a free program and doesn't have any of the bells and whistles, but it's still fun playing with all the fonts, sizes, colors, movements, fade-ins, animations, visual effects, etc. At least when you make it yourself, it doesn't cost an arm and a leg. I've never spent over $25, and most have been free. Here's the latest I did: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jyBxe1CUwB4&feature=youtu.be

Judy, I just love seeing what others have done (I get some of my best ideas that way!).

You are right of course...so glad I found this discussion. Thanks again.

MM...I used to have that on my netbook, which is currently in a coma till I can get a new battery. I used it to make the music videos on my Youtube account. The computer I am currently using his my hubby's antique self made one. It can't seem to run the same program I was used to. So I found an online service that works for those short book trailers. Since if I don't want to pay I can only do a 30 second video, it keeps me on my toes and on point.

I think I watched your video before and liked it then. The fonts are the fun part for me in your video...okay I love the clock parts too.

Rain Trueax says:
I have learned so much from this site. Recently I reduced all of my trailers to 60 seconds and can see where it has improved them a lot. I still like playing with more images and making longer ones but these are aimed at drawing someone to the books. To make one now I try to figure out not all that happened but the energy of the book, then find images to work with that.

Although I have some with less text, this one Moon Dust I'll put here because it's going to be free on Monday and Tuesday. http://youtu.be/yoZdPGjXDEI

Rain I viewed Moon Dust...pretty good.

mountainmama says:
Lisa, I love finding pictures too. They don't necessarily have to be a picture of something that actually happens in the book, but needs to be something that conveys the feeling. That's the hardest part for me.
