This is a really interesting book. Yes it is dystopian if you need to categorise it, but it is equally historical as ultimately it is is the history of the last days of earth, but told by focusing on what happened to the people in one US location. I'm not going to give the plot away, but it is obvious from the beginning that some survived to tell the tale.

What really worked for me was the sense of detachment achieved by the mix of chronicle, reportage and direct personal recollections. This is also what lifts it from the mass of standard fiction and makes it more thought provoking and worked out than most of the current apocalyptic/ post-apocalyptic mass market books such as Hunger Games etc.

The choices, behaviours and actions of the humans are observed, noted, recorded and analysed. Not necessarily to judge, but more to figure out why people do what they do in given situations. The chroniclers themselves are not all completely detached, some react very emotionally to what they observe, but they do the job regardless.

The way religion is used is also clever, counterbalancing blind belief with prophetic quotations and day to day actions, in effect showing the many faces and letting the actions speak for themselves.

I love books that leave you thinking about the story for days afterwards and this one certainly did that for me.

I hope there might be a sequel to this as it would be interesting to hear what happened in other countries or how the future progresses.

Brief Synopsis:
In 1995, the CIA and FBI jointly discovered secret plans to recover a trove of priceless treasure from deep below the North Atlantic Ice Barrier, aboard the RMS Titanic. An ultra-zealous terrorist organization competed against a group of divers, hired by a billionaire oilman, which set off a complex web of international intrigue and suspense. Dr. Cary Parker, Woods Hole oceanographer, archaeologist, and maritime law specialist at the Smithsonian Institute, was recruited by CIA's Colonel Bramson to beat both diving teams to the ship's grave site. And a wave of worldwide terrorism was set into motion at 2077 fathoms, as a rare, priceless book and unrecovered treasure became the primary focus of a triadic search. Parker, challenged the terrorists on his own turf, and what followed was an adventure of legendary proportions.

I've just published Summer Tea (Seventh Book in the Tea Series) the next book in the Tea Series. =)

The characters in The Tea Series are people you'd like to know and part of a family that welcomes you with open arms. More than 95,000 copies of the books in this series have been sold. You will find that each book in the series is a fast and fun read. Each installment of the series is a hybrid of the traditional novel and the serial novel (each is a full-length novel, leads directly into the next installment and the books should be read in order .) Each book is just 99 cents.

Hot Tea (First book in The Tea Series)Cara O'Flynn finds herself in an unusual position. She's quit her job and can afford to take a few weeks to find a new career. The problem - Cara didn't plan for three careers in as many days, nor did she anticipate the new guys that dropped in her lap. And then there's her sister Teagan, while always helpful and funny, she can be a bit annoying at times.

Sweet Tea (Second book in The Tea Series)- Cara and Teagan are dealing with wishes come true. The good news is that each of them has found the man of her dreams, unfortunately this is not news easily broken to their traditional mother. Further complicating their lives, they find themselves in the middle of a serial murder investigation; worse still, Cara may have come to the attention of the murderer.

Iced Tea (Third Book in the Tea Series) - Cara and Teagan are dealing with wishes gone awry. The serial murderer, if there is one, is still out there. The new guys are supportive, as is the family, but there is a limit to how involved Cara and Teagan want the people they love most to be. Life has been spinning out of control for some time and now it's up to Cara and Teagan to put it to rights.

Green Tea (Fourth Book in the Tea Series) finds Cara and Teagan more determined than ever, but determination without focus doesn't get you very far. There's a wedding just days away. A time to celebrate and enjoy family and tradition, but Cara keeps her distance as situations outside of her control threaten her in ways she is just beginning to recognize.

Peppermint Tea (Fifth Book in the Tea Series) - With complications swirling around Cara and Teagan, a cruise to Alaska might be just the opportunity they were looking for to calm things down and reconnect. They didn't count on things changing so much while they were gone. One bad guy out of jail, another unaccounted for. Cara has always counted on Teagan to walk with her through the good and bad parts of life, but even that seems to be changing...

Tea to Go (Sixth Book in the Tea Series) - Things are changing and Cara is reminded that not all change is good. Domestic violence has never been a factor in the O'Flynn family. Until now. With Teagan away and one complication after the next raining down on Cara, the importance of family has never been more clear.

Summer Tea (Seventh Book in the Tea Series) - One of life's biggest lessons is perspective. Your perspective can change in a heartbeat. Cara is learning that life lesson the hard way.

Please note: All books in The Tea Series have been professionally edited and formatted.

-- or --

The First Four - The Tea Series - All four books, in order, at a discounted price of just $3.59.

-- or --

Consequences (Lessons, The Series) On sale for just $2.99 - Nora McCarthy joyfully lost herself in two things -her kids and her husband. Her kids included a hodgepodge of young people that found their way to her when they needed more than anyone else was willing to provide.

Jennifer was a child needing help. Help only Nora was willing to provide. For more than a decade Jennifer bounced between her biological family and Nora

For the second time in as many weeks Nora is surrounded by cops. Nora has done all the right things for all the right reasons and it might just cost her everything.

I have just released a new novel HER HONOR'S BODYGUARD
Do first loves ever really die? While reunions can take many forms, there is always one question that has to be answered sooner or later-what happened?

Vance had always been extremely proud of Noella, and just because his life had been ruined, he saw no reason why she had to have the same faith. When his dad died, leaving him and his mother penniless, he dropped out of law school and ended his relationship with Noella, but in doing so, he stopped a scandal that could have ruined her family. These secrets he would never let her know. Ironically, years later, he would have never guessed she would be instrumental in ruining his career with the Tampa police force.

After Noella finished law school and started pursuing her goal of working up the ranks in judgeships, she never considered inviting another guy into her life. As such, when someone attempts to threaten her into vacating her seat on the bench, and by force if necessary, she knows of no one else she really trust as much as Vance, who now has a successful bodyguard and private detective business.

She knows that Vance might hate her for her part in having him dismissed from the police force, but what he will never know is that she actually saved him from going to prison. Additionally, she now thinks he was framed, and perhaps by the same people who are threatening her. She had to talk him into taking her on as a client . . . but would he agree to her request?

As the number of attacks on her life increases, Vance soon has no choice but to offer her his protection, and in spite of everything, when they see each other again their old attraction for each other returns. She wants the truth. He wants the truth. However, making the ultimate sacrifice is not always easy to understand, whether given or received. Ultimately . . . could they now trust each other with these secrets? While their lives depend on discovering the truth to their past, these truths are locked in deep secrets that could also destroy them.

Patchwork: Short Stories and Essays of the Appalachian Mountains

5 star reviewers say:
*Love her writing style and am anxiously awaiting her future books. The stories were short, well written and in some cases, left you wanting them to continue. That's the mark of a good story teller you always want the next installment.
*All I can say is wow! What a treasure trove of short stories and articles, well worth the $2.99 price. I don't know what I enjoyed the most: Annis's reminiscing about her childhood, the stories about the unique people she's known, or the wonderful way she brings to life the woods and smells of the North Carolina mountains which she obviously loves so deeply. Some of her short stories are horrifying, such as McCauley's Garden; some are funny; all are absorbing.

This is 60,000+ word collection of 17 short stories and 15 articles/essays, many of which were published in regional magazines over a period of several years. Many have to do with growing up in the mountains of North Carolina and others are the result of an irrepressible penchant for turning little slices of life into stories.

Gaspar The Thief

This is a new humorous fantasy adventure by British author, David A. Lindsay.

Follow the adventures of Gaspar, a freelance thief who stubbornly refuses to join the Thieves' Guild. Finding himself entangled in a series of mishaps and misfortunes mostly of his own making, and facing looming retribution from every quarter, he finally departs his native city.

Aided by Hubris, a seller of spells who similarly declines to pay his dues to Wizards' Hall, and Marna, a feisty thiefess with a quick tongue and a quicker temper, Gaspar hopes to lie low for a while, but events continue to go awry, leading from one catastrophe to the next in quick succession.

Brigands, sells-swords, goblin warlords, scheming mages and even a tricksy wight all seem to have it in for him as he travels across the world of Lindor, blundering from one calamity to the next, and yet somehow always surviving to tell the tale.

Told with humour, this is an exciting romp based in a fantasy world where anything can, and does, happen!
