My novel, KADE'S DARK EMBRACE is FREE TODAY (5/11/2012)
Kade's Dark Embrace (Immortals of New Orleans Book 1)

After a series of girls are ritualistically murdered on the cold streets of Philadelphia, seasoned detective, Sydney Willows, is forced to work with sexy, alpha vampire, Kade Issacson. While working the case, Sydney finds herself inexplicably drawn to Kade, fighting the passion she feels towards him. Kade, determined to solve the case and mete out justice, is captivated by the independent, fiery detective. As he attempts to protect her from a very real murderer, Kade grows concerned that the beautiful, but very human detective, could easily end up dead should she tangle with supernatural forces that are beyond her control.

The investigation leads them into a dark and dangerous world, deep in the heart of New Orleans, where together, they search for the perpetrators of the Voodoo killings. Sydney soon becomes the target of the killer and ends up fighting for her life and love in the Big Easy. If she makes it out alive, will she give into the intoxicating desire she feels for Kade?

Since its initial publication in the illustrated trade paperback, The Slab (a 123,000+ word epic) has received praise from many sources. It has inspired people to go check out Slab City and the Salton Sea for themselves (and in at least one case, inspired another book--my pal Weston Ochse set his horror novel Empire of Salt there after he visited).

Here are some excerpts from reviews, in case you're not yet convinced:

"If you have ever read and enjoyed those epic horror novels from the 70's and 80's (think Dan Simmons' work) where you were immersed in a sprawling world of rich characterization, smart plotting, and enough sub plotting where the horror was deliberately episodic and horrifying, The Slab will be the perfect read for you."
-- TT Zuma at HorrorWorld.org (http://horrorworld.org/hw/2011/12/the-slab/)

"If you lived through the aftermath of 9/11, you'll recognize the tense confusion of the period immediately following. If you've loved someone with Alzheimer's, you'll appreciate the full-fledged characterization of someone dealing with its limitations on a day-to-day basis. If you've ever lost a loved one and grieved deeply, and if you've ever had a change of heart about what's right and what's wrong, this book will hit you where you live--and take you on a thrill ride through space and time (and a cave filled with man-eating mushrooms), each in good time."
-- Red Tash (http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/229263832)

"This is a must read for all horror/thriller lovers"
-- Brittany Carrigan (http://thecoverbybrittany.blogspot.com/2011/12/slab-by-jeff-mariotte.html)

"I found The Slab to be an entertaining, thought-provoking and gripping read."
-- Paul Dail (http://pauldail.com/2012/01/13/of-mushroom-rvs-and-ancient-evil-a-review-of-jeff-marriottes-the-slab/)

Note: Paul Dail has also posted a Slab-centric interview with me. Check it out: http://pauldail.com/2012/01/20/interview-seven-questions-with-author-jeff-mariotte/

"The Slab is one of those books that transports back to a time when you first started to fall in love the genre. It reminds of some of the great horror novels of the '80's. That's not to say the novel feels dated, not by any means. What I'm trying to say, remember those books that had a a roller-coaster fun heart, with a huge cast of characters, that kept you turning each page under the covers long after your parents told you to go to sleep."
-- Ginger Nuts of Horror (http://thegingernutcase.blogspot.com/2011/10/slab-by-jeff-mariotte.html?spref=fb)

"Mariotte manages both thought-provoking juxtaposition and lizard-brain satisfaction as he plays out the large cast of characters across this hard and relentless landscape. His serial killers are just original enough to catch readers by surprise and he neatly ties together the threads of random magic, post-traumatic stress syndrome, a subtle supernatural invasion and an upper-class attack on a lower class landscape."
-- Rick Kleffel (http://trashotron.com/agony/reviews/2003/mariotte-the_slab.htm)

And, not reviews but blurbs upon the original publication:

"In The Slab, Mariotte grabs the reader's mind bare-handed and drags you through the unraveling of human interactions. It's insightful, potent, powerful--and downright creepy. Not only is The Slab a microcosm of the dark side of human nature, it's also a ripping good thriller."
-- Kevin J. Anderson, bestselling author of Terra Incognita, The Saga of Seven Suns, and the Dune books.

"Mariotte is an author with vision. His prose is striking, his plots involving, his characters identifiable. He knows how to move an audience--and how to strike absolute terror in their hearts. If you're not reading his work, you should be. I highly recommend The Slab."
--Scott Ciencin, bestselling author of The Vampire Odyssey

So if for some reason you haven't yet read this classic of contemporary horror, there'll never be a better (cheaper) time.

Tell a friend. Spread the word.

And thanks.

K.L. Brady says:
Soul of the Band: Making the Cut (Book 1)

From the Award-Winning Author of The Bum Magnet, Got a Right to Be Wrong, and Worst Impressions: a Romantic Comedy, a new series with a powerful message for young adults of all ages and races.

After years of living with her mother's mental illness, Brandy Jackson gets a new start in a new town where she finds love, frenemies, a spot in an all-white high school marching band...and lots of trouble!

Music-loving 16-year-old Brandy Jackson has had it up to here with "they"--the annoying voices inside her mother's head. She isolates herself from the dreaded schizophrenic episodes with Beethoven and her iPod. Her long-suppressed desire to learn music is squelched by the burden of mental illness, at least until she arrives home from school to find her belongings on the DC streets and her mother vanished. Fortunately, Aunt Charlie comes to her rescue and moves her to Mapleton, Ohio, where she begins a new life free of her troubled past-or so she thinks.

Brandy's plans to fly under the radar at school in order to conceal her family's shame are quashed when Jenny Lee, her new next-door neighbor and a flutist, recognizes Brandy's musical obsession and urges her to join the all-white high school marching band. Brandy obliges and soon realizes she's traded her old troubles for new ones. Now, she stands out like a chocolate chip floating in a sea of milk; she has less than three months to learn to play her dreaded tuba--her only ticket to earn a spot on the band; and a near kiss with the Queen B's boyfriend lands her in triple trouble with the popular chick clique. But when another band member's failed plot to get rid of his nemesis unexpectedly leaves Brandy in contention for the band's most coveted position, the ensuing drama will give her the strength rise above her circumstances-or leave her paralyzed in the shame of her past.

A.J. Armitt says:
Tortured Hearts - A Collection of Twisted Tales of Love

The #1 selling anthology in the UK Kindle Chart.

Today is the last chance to get it for **FREE**!!

What is Love?
And why should it impact so differently on each and every one of us?

We can neither touch, smell, see nor hear it, and yet we know it exists, for it is an experience like no other, appearing in an instant or gradually easing into our lives.

It is such a powerful emotion, that we may find ourselves swept up, spun around and wrung out; sometimes in ecstasy, sometimes in misery, and sometimes in sheer passion.

It is an unseen force that permeates though our bodies and minds, filling our thoughts and dreams, influencing our decisions and guiding our actions. It gives us strength, but can also make us weak. It has the ability not only to heal, but also to destroy. It can be emancipating, but can also enslave us.

There is no mandate, no unifying theme; it takes all in different guises, twisting, soothing, but also hurting. Its sheer presence can lift us above all else, but when lost, it can bring our world to a grinding halt; toppling it from its axis, and sending it spinning off into oblivion.

It can and it does.

Love can manifest itself into acts of pure evil; for is revenge not a child born from Love?

The ten tales in this book are the consequences of such Love...

Daddy's Girl - A.J Armitt - A young surgeon has the perfect father, but what lengths will she go to when he needs her help?

Torture - Robert Brooks - After the death of his wife, a middle-aged man finds love with a younger woman. All is well, until she dumps him for a younger model...

Where Angels Fear to Tread - Paul Murphy - An Army Captain seeks revenge on the gang members who raped and murdered his daughter.

The Widow Tompkin - Shirley Blane - A photographer takes up lodgings with a young widow. But does this attractive and friendly woman have a sinister secret.

Homecoming - Alex MacKenzie - A wife is relieved when her husband returns from battle. He seems different; has the conflict in some way changed him?

Threads of Love - Rachel Dove - A high powered executive enjoys an illicit fling with his assistant until things go wrong. He then has to make a difficult choice...

The Last Dance - A.J Armitt - A lovesick woman dreams of rekindling a relationship at the high school reunion; but another may stand in her way...

A Mother's Love - Paul Murphy - A young nurse looks forward to ending her tour of duty at a military base in Afghanistan, when she is called on to perform one final act of kindness.

Happy Anniversary - Robert Brooks - A young couple enjoy a night at the opera; until their special evening becomes a nightmare.

The Groomer - Shirley Blane - A teenage girl has an encounter with an older man, whom she has met on the internet. He seems nice, but is all as it seems?

FREE on May 11th & 12th - Talisa Creek - 5 star reviews Talisa Creek (Drum Chase Trilogy)

In the early hours of Christmas Day, Drum Chase starts a fire which kills three generations of his family. Only Drum and his elder brother, John, survive.

Jumping forward sixteen years we find the reclusive John Chase escaping from a US military hospital and returning home to London. His memory is shredded, his body weight has dropped 50kg and there's a mysterious microchip embedded in his calf. He also has a bank account brimming with seven million dollars. Somebody somewhere knows what's happened to him and John returns to the final places he has memories of. He travels around Los Angeles, San Diego and Texas, and it's not long before his forgotten past catches up with him.

Subjected to interrogations and violence he dredges up vivid flashbacks inducing more questions than answers. Where did he disappear to? Why is the black-eyed Armstrong torturing him? And who shot Larry's son?

Drum and John will discover the answers at Talisa Creek.

With a father hell-bent on revenge and a brother seeking redemption the net is closing in and time is running out for everyone.

Talisa Creek is a pacy thriller compelling from the first pages when disaster strikes the Chase family.
