Ms. Jess says:
Hi all!

My debut blog/IM novel was recently launched: EyeLeash: A Blog Novel

Short Synopsis:

Jade Ashton is a sassy virgin. In her private blog, she vents about "fitting in" a world where superficiality reigns supreme.

Suddenly all logic flies out the window when she meets Novan: the former geek, who's morphed into a delicious songwriter-musician.

They decide to be "friends-with-benefits". But it's Novan, with his poems and riddling passages on his own blog--which *isn't private*--that backs out.

EyeLeash captures self-discovery in the 2000s, and showcases the colorful, intricate drama in two youths' relentless search for themselves--and what's really in their hearts.

* * *

Thanks and all the best,

Here is my shameless post! :) I'm trying to build buzz for my short story collection, Strange Times, so I've lowered the price to 99 cents until the end of August. I priced it initially at 5.99. It has something for everyone, with humor, horror, sci-fi, historical and literary fiction. It just attracted its first review (from Red Adept, whom some of you may know) and received 5 stars. I hope you guys will check it out!

Here's some information on my debut novel, Southern Man.

What happens when corporate polices designed to protect women are used instead to attack men? Ask Troy Stevenson and his family.

TITLE Southern Man
AUTHOR Connie Chastain
PUBLISHER Brasstown Books
ISBN / EAN13 061529801X / 9780615298016

In 1983, in moss-hung Verona, Georgia, the tender and tenacious love between a hardworking man and his adoring wife is tested by sudden adversity. At thirty-two, Troy Stevenson is a corporate vicepresident and a former college football star who must confront an old family secret that underlies his nascent alcohol abuse or he may lose his wife and the son and daughter he deeply loves. When his latent destructiveness is unleashed and impacts his family, he moves to their lakeside cottage to come to grips with his personal weaknesses. But busybodies at his company assume he moved to the cottage because his marriage is in trouble. Encouraged by the assumption, co-worker Brooke Emerson, an amoral, 1980s material girl romantically obsessed with Troy, attempts to seduce him, setting in motion a chain of events with harrowing consequences for him and his family.

AUTHOR'S NOTE: Southern Man is unfriendly to radical feminism and thus politically incorrect. The hero is the head of his family, the protector and provider. His wife enjoys her role as homemaker and is happy with her wife-and-mother identity. This is not a Christian novel, precisely, but it is written with a Christian world view and is pro-faith, pro-tradition and pro-family.

COMMENTS from reviews and readers:

" absorbing story of marriage vows under stress and of politically targeted individuals facing social and career extinction....refreshingly written from the viewpoint of the traditional family values that made our culture the world's envy....a novel with political bite....grippingly exposes the underside of corporate harassment policies that have inadvertently brought misery to many innocent employees....a well written story, with prose that's concise and silky to read..... sparks with rising excitement as it gathers momentum...the harrowing rush to the book's conclusion is a riveting reading experience....a love story of refined elegance. ~LASR Reviews

"... it grabbed me, pulled me in, and made me want to know what's going to happen to these folks. Prose is smooth and professional. I...followed [Troy] and Patty into the EFO hearing full of indignation and suspense. What characters! What an ending!" ~Thomas Moore, author of The Hunt For Confederate Gold

"This is a sweet, sweet story. I love the innocence and purity of it. I like the way [it makes] religion a part of the characters' lives without being preachy." ~Valerie Mann, writer of sensual romance

"...a smooth flowing storyline that kept this reader interested. The characters are real. ... Troy and Patty were good players as husband and wife, as they sought to maintain order in their life. Connie Chastain tells the story of a loving couple who... find a way to face any temptation in their path. She chronicles a good tale, instilling, warmth and emotions in her players, to create a delightful story worth the read." ~Coffee Time Romance Reviews

Hi Ed,

How have you been? No I haven't gotten around to putting Haversham Hill on kindle yet. I've been working on another novel which is almost complete. Then I will look into that.

In the interim I've had to get a new computer, transfer the programs, etc only to find it was defective so that was a big problem I have now worked out. Of course I needed a new computer anyway because mine was 10 years old with a full hard drive and no memory left.

Anyway such is life. Have you read my book yet?

I may bend your ear some when I get around to the kindle project.
Best wishes,

GW Gresham says:
My name is Gary and I write under the name GW Gresham. I would like to join the shameless book promotion and plug my first fiction thriller novel, Perfect Lies that just got published on August 18th.

I used CreateSpace because I love to write and wanted a quick way to get it published so I can write more books at a quicker pace. For me it's really all about the writing and there is not too many other things I enjoy more than having my fingers hit the keys creating great, new stories.

Here is the synopsis for Perfect Lies:
When Texas billionaire, Martin Wentworth, discovers his daughter is building a hotel and casino on her private island off the coast of Texas, he must do everything in his power to stop her to protect his secret.

His daughter, Katherine Wentworth, is so determined to build her hotel that she has to partner with the Viatsi crime family for protection from her own father.

When Katherine asks Cole Tyler to help her build her dream hotel it drops him in the middle of the deadly Wentworth family war. But is his infatuation with Katherine worth the ticking time bomb that surrounds her?

The book is now listed on Amazon and I am promoting the book with a blog at: and have sent out several press releases. I made a video book trailer on YouTube and have also joined Facebook and Twitter. I'm just now finding author sites like Authors Den and looking for more ways to promote.

I'm already working on a sequel to this first book and have plans to publish my short story collection next. Just wanted to join all of you and shamelessly promote my new book. I look forward to reading and discussing your works with all of you.

My Sage: Tales from a Magical Kingdom has a ghost story in it. Last novella in the set.
In "Call to Arms" every hand is needed when a ghost invades the kingdom demanding old wrongs be righted.

Now I better go check on yours as it sounds rather "ghostly."

Edit: Kelly, wow--that sounds like a very interesting YA (I added YA as a tag--if it's not YA, let me know and I'll go remove it!). You did a bang-up job on the description!

More shameless self-promotion - Assiniboin Girl - Assiniboin Girl - is out from Drollerie Press. It's a YA urban fantasy and has gotten some really great reviews from YA book reviewers around the web.

Here's a quick synopsis (there's a longer one on the book's Amazon page):

Assiniboin Girl is about a young Sioux girl who knows nothing about her heritage when an unhappy set of circumstances force her to come to terms with who she is and where she comes from. A blend of contemporary mystery, history and a touch of the supernatural make this a hopefully intriguing read.

Thanks and hope you enjoy -
