Unintended Consequences - Lessons from a Life Almost Lost
One of my favorites is Bill Shaner's "Unintended Consequences Lessons from a Life Almost Lost". It's part memoir and part tale of the spiritual lessons learned after a tragic accident that resulted in a near death experience and temporarily left a 31 year old man a paraplegic. Bill takes you through the harrowing ordeal and its aftermath, showing how even seemingly devastating events can ultimately yield invaluable blessings if you persevere and maintain your faith.

Mine is currently my own! It was a rough 2 years of experiencing hallucinations, mania and hearing voices, and I recounted what I thought, said and did based on these hallucinations. I nearly got killed and ended up in jail. Now, I'm free from this and have wrote this memoir to provide inspiration.Memoirs of Madness

My favorite memoir is a book I just finished called "Brother Jon." It is available in the Kindle store for .99 cents and is worth it. It's about a young boy and his difficult childhood and it follows his journey through life into his golden years. He is the true under dog to not only beat the odds of turning his life around but becoming a great success story. The stories are incomparable to anything I've ever read. Many funny stories and many that are just unbelievable. A really great read that you will not want to put it down. Highly recommend!

Will Love for Crumbs sounds really interesting. One of my favorite memoirs is This Boy's Life, by Tobias Wolff. It is very poignant and somehow takes the abusive stepfather theme, which has been done before and shapes it into good literature. Also a movie with Robert De Niro

If you haven't heard of it yet, you should definitely check out Skewed Psyche by Grace-naomi!! It's a memoir of a young girl in an abusive relationship and the love and loss of a child that was born into that situation. The story is raw and real and promises to make you feel every emotion. Everyone I know who has read it has been moved. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=skewed+psyche&x=0&y=0

Why not say what Happened? Ivanna Lowell
I give this one the big 5 stars. Ivanna Lowell is a Guinness (beer) heiress and daughter of the writers Robert Lowell and Caroline Blackwood (also a Guienness girl). Its a memoir full of predictable trials of additiction and abuse. I laughed and I cried.

Here's a memoir that will surely touch everyone, guaranteed!

"Christmas On The Move Out West"
"A wacky memoir that is destined to become the new baby boomer Christmas classic."
This TRUE STORY takes place in Portland, Oregon, 1968, and spans the month of December.
A coming of age account of a dysfunctionally functional family. A widower with five children
and his spinster sister roll with the punches as best they can in a collection of crazy, humorous
and sentimental anecdotes full of surprises with an unexpected ending.

I am the author of "Nobody washes me, I'm Italian." My book is about my father coming from Italy to America at the age of 8 years of age. He struggled with the English language even through college; adjusting to the food; Prohibition; and how hard it was to assimilate to the American way of life. Nobody Washes Me, I'm Italian

Correct me if I'm wrong but a memoir is the aurthor writting about his or her own life?

In reply to an earlier post on Feb 21, 2012 5:30:14 PM PST
Nunz999 says:
The author is writing about her father and herself in "Nobody washes me, I'm Italian." So, therefore, it would be called a Memoir/autobiography.
