I love it. Honestly, I'm probably in the minority in this, but I don't really care if they don't ever play Metal again. I'm loving the new direction.

Niiiice.... I'll be getting it soon as I can, probably next check. Anxious to hear it. I need to revisit Heritage as well. Probably spun that 5 times max...

Pale Communion apparently came out today, so I got it. Early release FTW.

Buy this - it's really good...

Drum Nation - Volume 3

I bought this for the track written and performed solely by Derek Roddy, who interestingly wrote and performed the guitar and bass, in addition to the drums. I heard a thirty second sample of this track a while back, and have since searched for the full length version, which, alas, I found on this compilation. This is a collection from multiple other bands, which, is quite entertaining thus far. They are full band recordings, not just drums, and it's separate from any of the band members actual band releases. It's dope. Glad I picked it up.

Drummers:

Jordan Mancino
Chris Adler
Jeremy Colson
Justin Foley
Jason Bittner
Kenneth Schalk
Joe Nunez
Tom Taitano
Chris Pennie
Derek Roddy
Raanen Bozzio
Michael Justice

Agreed, that is my favorite release of theirs, track after track, that album hits that old school death metal craving more than a lot of stuff out there.

That's par for the course with Gorguts, of course. Luckily, that means I won't get bored of it any time soon. Jeeze, what an amazing band. Considered Dead is one of my favorite pure Old school DM albums.

Indeed it is. Just wait until you get in it enough and it really settles in. Some pretty mind blowing stuff on there, Luc really got a serious sound on this album. I love it.

From the last few months:

AGALLOCH -- The Serpent and the Sphere (2014)
Sounds great, not a step forward though. I've got to listen to it more...

AGRIMONIA -- Rites of Separation (2013)
Progressive Swedish metal with the harsh black metal vocals.

VHOL -- VHOL (2013)
Fantastic, high-energy album!

ASH BORER -- Cold of Ages (2012)
State-of-the-art black metal from Northern California.

TOMBS -- Path of Totality (2011)
Heavy Neurosis-influenced trio -- killer album. (Their new one is out today: Savage Gold)

ENSLAVED -- Axioma Ethica Odini (2010)
Excellent Viking metal, harder hitting than their previous few.

KYLESA -- Spiral Shadow (2010)
Great hard-to-categorize metal album with hardcore punk vocals, dual drummers, and alternative rock elements.
