Everytime someone types NSBM I think I see my name WNBS and keep scrolling back up to find out who's talking about me now.

Crazy old paranoid man is crazy, old, and paranoid.

In reply to an earlier post on Feb 3, 2010 5:49:48 PM PST
I'm not paranoid, everyone's just against me....

Don't start man, there were times years ago if I got too stoned, where I'd get so paranoid that I'd jump up and look out the window wide eyed and freaked, every time I heard a car door shut, or the leaves rustling in the wind.

well, I just saw a 'new' shirt that I will be ordering when I get home.

oh hell yes.

Posted on Feb 4, 2010 7:55:34 PM PST
Just ordered this today:

Blue Oyster Cult - Blue Oyster Cult
Tyranny and Mutations - Blue Oyster Cult
Cultosaurus Erectus - Blue Oyster Cult
Fire of Unknown Origin - Blue Oyster Cult
Aerosmith - Aerosmith
Get Your Wings - Aerosmith
Born Again - Black Sabbath

I don't have have any Aerosmith or Blue Oyster Cult, so I thought it was about time I got some. I'm also excited about Born Again. What I looked up on Youtube from it sounded kind of similar to Angel Witch's Screamin' and Bleedin', which is a very evil-sounding album in it's own right.

Dont forget Rocks by Aerosmith, imo their best

In reply to an earlier post on Feb 4, 2010 8:01:53 PM PST
Well, what I just ordered IS just a start. I imagine I will get Rocks, and probably Toys in the Attic as well, after I've let the first two sink in for a little while.

Toys in the Attic was the only Aerosmith album I really liked

New purchases-
Mercyful Fate- Melissa
Mercyful Fate- Don't Break the Oath
White Wizzard- High Speed GTO
Destroyer 666- Phoenix Rising

I never heard Mercyful Fate or King Diamond back when I was a teenager. I love his voice, I find it oddly endearing.

Abagail and Them by King Diamond are also amazing if you haven't scoured his solo efforts so far. Stay away from Abagail 2, Puppet Master, Give Me your Soul (although this one has amazing solos) because they arent nearly as good as his 80's ones

Posted on Feb 4, 2010 10:05:20 PM PST
I hate solos. hate hate hate. That was one of the big things that kept me out of 70's and 80's metal when I was a kid. I will put up with them if the rest of the song is good but I skip them whenever possible. The only exception is live, solos can be fairly impressive at a live show but on record they just sound wanky to me.
I haven't explored King Diamond's solo stuff yet but I will as soon as I finish digesting Mercyful Fate. Thanks for the warnings about what to leave alone.

King Diamond songs don't shy away from solos, part of what I enjoy about his music. Based on what you just wrote im not sure if you would even like his solo stuff, way more '80s' sounding then mercyful fate. The riffs have that reverby sound to them. Though Fatal Portrait and Abigail contain musicians from Mercyful Fate, his solo work has a different sound musically.

@alaskan

I tried with BOC, I really did, but in the end a decent "hits" compilation was all I needed. Born Again is great though.

Abominog was Uriah Heep. That album and its cover artwork couldn't be more different.

I always thought it looked like a lost Spinal Tap album cover. The album itself sounds more like Foreigner, so I have no idea what the band was thinking there.
