Did you know Fastway did an album this year? Dog Eat Dog. Have you heard it?

Yeah, it's not bad IMO. I actually enjoyed it. Always nice to hear Fast Eddie doing some new stuff.

I'll have to check it out again. The little that I've heard on youtube, the vocals just sounded weak. Who's the new singer and what happened to the old one?

Ash Krueger says:
It's Toby Jepson from Little Angels and Gun. Two bands I, admittedly, have never listened to. Dave King, the original singer, now stays busy with his band Flogging Molly. Another band I have never listened to. Lea Hart was the singer on the last two Fastway releases I believe but those are tough to find on CD. From what I've heard from those albums, they aren't exactly classics either. Yes, if I have a complaint about the new Fastway it's the singer. I admit, he isn't as good as ol' Dave. That being said I do like the new album but almost as a Fast Eddie solo record. It doesn't feel 100% Fastway. Strip the name off of it and it's fairly decent hard rock.

What does he do for Flogging Molly? I think some of the dudes from Social Distortion are also in that band.

Maybe it's time I gave them a listen then.

Flogging Molly is good but somewhat repetitive; each album sounds the same. IMO. It's to be expected from Irish punk. Classic Irish punk, and the blueprint for Flogging Molly, is the Pogues. You can't go wrong with Rum, Sodomy, and the Lash or If I Should Fall From Grace With God.

I tried one of them and kept waiting for them to start rocking. It never happened.

That's kind of like saying today's punk is better than the Ramones or the Sex Pistols. It might be better recorded, or faster, or harder rocking, but, the Ramones and Sex Pistols will always be more punk.

Same with the Pogues and every Irish punk band that came afterwards. Flogging Molly, Dropkick Murphy's, The Tossers....... whoever; none of them can be more Irish punk than the Pogues, they created the genre.
