Place of Skulls is a christian band? Boy I missed the boat on that one.

I'm not religious but I can certainly appreciate music influenced by the beliefs of the artists responsible. For instance, I'm not a Satanist but I dig Mercyful Fate, Venom, Bathory, Bulldozer, and recent bands like Ghost, Devil, and Devil's blood. I'm gonna go oldschool here and throw out Stryper. Awesome riffs, catchy melodies, and a good singer.

I'll bet you a million dollars that 90% of metalheads are not satanists and maybe not Christian, but believe in God and pray when live gets the way it tends to get. People walking around the earth convincing themselves they're gonna rot in the ground when they die, and that's what happens to everyone else who leaves this earth seems funny to me. Sure - some believe that, but I bet they are either in a rough time in their life or are just part of the small percentage of people who refuse to believe in something that cannot be seen, or just maybe is outside of our ability to conceive or understand.

Can't go wrong with Bloody Blasphemy. A truly overlooked Christian Metal gem.

Other Christian bands I enjoy:

Tourniquet
Vengeance Rising
Deliverance
Veni Domine

Not to get into a heated religious debate here but I fall into the category of "I don't know." I find it hard to committ to belief or a lack thereof. I sit in the middle. Maybe I'm more of a scientific skeptic. I just don't feel there's enough evidence on either side of the debate. I'm not a fan of hardcore atheists like Richard Dawkins who pretty much belittle the intelligence of people with faith and I'm not a fan of the extreme religious right who feel anyone not of their faith is a hideous demon with no sense of morals, family, respect, and "golden rule" understanding. My opinion: believe what you're comfortable believing and never tell anyone else their beliefs are wrong. At the end of the day we just don't know 100 % and could very well be the one in the wrong ourselves!

well im not an "extremely religious" person but i do know that God is real. i don't think you would go to hell if you don't believe in God. just like i don't agree with everything in the bible. i mean the bible was written by Man, not God himself

i believe that God gives everybody a second chance. even the atheists

That is a great album...that coverart is from a famous painting or drawing or something. I've seen it as several album covers, or slight variances of that picture. Vomitory's Revalation Nausea has the same scene,,,,of the demons taking Christ from the cross...

One time I grabbed a few discs, then went down the stairs to walk out the door to get in my car. My folks and brother are heavily involved in the church, and they currently had a meeting of some kind in our family room. So several pastors and members of our chuch were in the house. We are Lutheran, we have pastors - not priests. But either way, I said goodbye to my folks and got pulled into a breif convo with some of the pastors in the kitchen, and they asked to see the cds in my hand.

One was Viral Load's Practioners of Perversion with one of them Texas Death MEtal Ziggy artwork covers of a brutally dismembered female corpse.....and the other was the cover of Vomitory's Revelation Nausea - similar to the Bloody Blasphemy cover. I didn't even want to imagine the reaction I'd get from that crowd on the rendering of Christ being taken down into hell by demons....So I handed over the cover with the dismembered female instead and sort of cringed......

The female pastor looked for a moment and handed it back to me and said, "This looks ominous..."

I said, "yes...it is." Then turned and got the hell out of there......

Thanks for the link to interactive sex.

Actually Austin, I could make it through the whole song. It is the sam ole angst ridden core, but not bad.

Again - not to get into a religous debate but, The Easter story. Very much Christian. ...the drawing is a rendering of when he was crucified...he went to hell for three days. The picture depicts a version of how that could have happened...demons coming up from hell, removing him from the cross and taking him down there. Just like afterwards he Ascended....he had to get down there somehow....

That's funny. One year my dad forced my brother to go to church: He wore a Morbid Angel shirt. I was sitting there the whole time looking at people's faces, then looking at him with a blank stare on his face, crying in tears laughing. It was the fact that everyone was so appalled and gave him ugly faces....and he just sat there like a zombie. HAHA!

Damn - that probably is the best way to pull off sporting a Morbid Angel T in a church...hahahaha. I'd of gotten a kick out of that scene as well...

Oh, that's cool. That's how the story goes anyways...

The Roman Centurian's nailed him up there, and he died. They took his body down and put him in a tomb. Some of his people went to pray over him at the tomb and he was gone.

The story goes he went to hell for three days then rose up to Heaven. Good Friday is the Friday before Easter when he was crucified...then Easter is when he rose up to Heaven. There are different takes on these events in different religions. That is the main theme of the Christian take on it anyways....
