I need a good cry like you get from watching movies, like "Terms of Endearment" . Any recommendations???

Not sure what you've seen. For something obscure...maybe White Squall, maybe not in the same way as Endearment.

My style of tear-jerky is of the inspirational style: Where the hero/heroine goes through tremendous trials, but manages to come out on top; or, is a tragic figure who inspires others to take up their seemingly lost cause and continue the fight.

Inspirational tear jerky:

1. Glory
2. The Pursuit of Happyness (Widescreen Edition)
3. Men Of Honor
4. Brian's Song
5. The Jesse Owens Story

More traditional tear jerky (though a bit dated):

1. Love Story
2. The Way We Were (Special Edition)
3. On the Beach
4. Ice Castles
5. The Other Side Of The Mountain

Warning: _Love Story_ may make you suicidal because you will not want to go on once you learn that it is possible for a movie to be that bad.

The Rentman says:
Schindler's List.

The fact that you are watching the story of people whom really lived hits home. It's also one of the greatest films of all time.

Nothing "Romantic" about it or anything, it's just delivers a picture of the best and worst of humanity.

Dark Victory
Mr. Skeffington
Ikiru
Forbidden Games
Summer with Monika
Zeffirelli's Romeo and Juliet (is it still legal to watch this one in the USA?)

Added in editing. . .
La Strada
Bicycle Thieves
The Umbrellas of Cherbourg
Ugetsu Monogatari
Brief Encounter
Jean de Florette / Manon des Sources
Cyrano de Bergerac (José Ferrer or Gérard "Now I am a Russian" Depardieu, as you prefer)

A pair of candidates for "the saddest movie that I've ever seen" are the second and third parts of Axel Corti's trilogy "Wohin und Zurück" trilogy (Santa Fe and Welcome in Vienna) -- the only home video source I know for these films with English subtitles is www.jewishfilm.org, which wants $126 for a 4-DVD Axel Corti set (Wohin und Zurück + "A Woman's Pale Blue Handwriting"); amazon.fr is selling the trilogy with French subtitles for 25 Euros.

I have seen some of these and I did need quite a bit of tissue. Even though some may mock Love Story I bet they secretly shed tears. I will order a couple of these. thank you and thank you for the links.

yes I have seen it and the funeral scene was very tear inducing. Thank you for the pep talk but I'm ok i just like to watch sad movies sometimes and get emotional, I find it a great stress release. have you seen Fried Green Tomatoes? great funny/sad movie.

I haven't seen the notebook and castaways, i will check those out since i loved the other ones you picked. the Mask character was based on a guy who lived in my community and I went to school with.

bobbrakemanmovies.com calls "A Summer Story" the saddest love story of them all, so you might try that one. (That website has a bunch of sad movies scattered around, as I recall).
