Yeah, just what the heck was Disney thinking? I hear they are planning on a Blu Ray release of the original movie sometime soon but that is something that definitely should have already been done in time for the sequel's release in theaters. Luckily I already own the 2 disc 20th anniversary widescreen edition on DVD. I love the movie but no way would I pay $160 bucks for it.

RNR-

I believe Disney (the king of let them pant & wait) believes that not having the original released before Legacy forces the TRON junkies to go more times for a fix. They then intend to clean up on the original release after Legacy cools a little. Disney never has done things as others do & they love their- my vault you can't have em idea.

How to Lose Friends and Alienate People

6 out of 10

Had some funny laugh out loud parts with Simon Pegg and a good ending. Basically a silly film about a celebrity reporter (Pegg) who wants more than anything to live the glamourous life, but finds it may not be everything he hoped for.

Also has Jeff Bridges as his boss, Megan Fox as a beautiful, but shallow actress, Kirsten Dunst and Thandie Newton.

The Lovely Bones - 6/10 stars

Susie Salmon tells us herself that she was 14 years old when she died on December 6, 1973. Throughout the movie Susie narrates from her own personal limbo. She can't move on because she can't let go of her loved ones. And it pains her to know that her killer is getting away with it.

She watches her father's tireless attempts to find her killer and the overwhelming grief that drives her mother away. Only when her surviving family members take solace from each other can she finally find peace in the hereafter.

This movie got really bad reviews from what I've seen, but I liked it a lot. I think the nay sayers were mostly disappointed with the special effects. I admit they were a bit gaudy at times and usually unnecessary. However, looking past that aspect and focusing on the storyline will be rewarding if you choose to view this one.

It was not a 'feel good' story, but it was emotional and heartfelt. That makes it a keeper in my book. Good flick!

The Lovely Bones

jmgirl, your review made me go back and watch it. I think it got bad reviews because after all that movie running time it really didn't have a satisfying resolution.

D. Duarte, Yes! I'm sure that is a big part of it. I know I wasn't satisfied with what happened to the killer.

I listen to reviews, but only to a certain extent. The bottom line was, I really wanted to see this one so no bad review was going to stop me. I'm glad I watched it.

Ha, Ha! You're funny, Tarek. Do you use a crystal ball, or are you just a really good psychic. If so, can you tell me what numbers to play to hit the big lottery jackpot this coming new year?

your joking right??!!!.....if they remake "Conan"....then Hollywood really has run out of ideas.....because it won't be as good as the 1982 original....after all that one was before political correctness......I can't picture a politically correct "Conan"!!

jmgirl,

Re: The Lovely Bones. It's not just what happened to the killer that's somewhat unsatisfying, but in hindsight the story meanders a bit. It runs at 2.5 hours but could have easily been a 90 minute movie, which is a more natural and comfortable length for most people.

Novels, of course, are allowed to meander and people often enjoy that as readers, but screenwriting / filmmaking is a much more disciplined form (in this respect), and this perhaps was the main downfall of the film.

Usually movies that run longer have a little something extra for the audience, in this case, that wasn't so. But like you, I did enjoy the special effects and the supernatural pov of the narrator.

Re: 'Conan' - "1982 original....after all that one was before political correctness."<<

The modern definition of "political correctness" was already in it's second incarnation by the early 1970's, so it's really a matter of perspective at how "incorrect" 'Conan' was. There were few movies as sexist as some things made in the 1950's and '60's, but I guess the 1990's and onward takes the cake for making everything before it seem savagely `Incorrect`.

Love and Other Drugs 5/10

If you've always wanted to see Anne Hathaway's nipples, you're in luck with this one. Some pretty decent sex scenes as well, and some good acting.

But here's the plot (spoiler alert)...

He's a decent guy and she's a "b" to him throughout and keeps breaking up with him over and over and he has to come back and give her a "I love you" speech, over and over again.

If Anne Hathaway wasn't so cute, she'd be hard to deal with. She keeps crying and asking him, "What is it you love about me?" I guess the answer is, her boobs, but of course, that wouldn't be romantic to just say.
