Ben Hur is a far greater epic than good buddies will ever be, but I sense it is a wasted vote. Time to make space.

+ Scorsese's crime epic
- Banging, clanging epic with awesome chariot race

Ben-Hur [what's wrong with you people?]

J. Baker says:
"[what's wrong with you people?]" -- says the person who dealt 'Ben-Hur' the decisive death blow into Hell. Ironic.

So, from my skewed perspective, we have two pretty good movies in Hell now, and no really good movies to vote on currently. I sure hope the next decider includes something truly classic. And by that, I don't mean 'E. T.' !

Did you mean "Titanic" with Leo and Kate? ;-)

In reply to an earlier post on Aug 13, 2012 2:48:07 PM PDT
J. Baker says:
re: 'Titanic'. Haha, right, exactly. Or 'What Dreams May Come'.
Nah, Mademoiselle Hogwallop has picked just the perfect candidate for movie heaven. So no more of my crybaby act today!

By ze way, I didn't mean to suggest 'Kiss of the Spider Woman' wasn't worthy. Truth be known, I barely remember it. For all I know, it's great.

Sorry Brother, I don't really care for spoof movies. Which is weird since I own THREE copies of Top Secret!

Sloany,
I like all these movies. That's the problem. I've already got a few duds on my movie list, for easy down votes. You know, movies like "The Care Bears II: A New Generation", stuff like that.

Oz le Fou says:
Yeah, yeah. Excuses excuses.

;)

For the record, there are twangs of guilt attached to my pleasure of watching 'Top Secret'. For 'Top Gun', NO GUILT!

Why did you not count JA's vote?

J. Baker says:
So... technically, with J.A.'s votes counted, the list should read:

Fargo - 10
Kiss of the Spider Woman - 7
Top Secret! - 4
The Breakfast Club - 2
Rosemary's Baby - 4
Goodfellas - 8

Right?

I realize, in the funny world of Lew Archer, this would mean I just "confirmed" that J. A. is a sock of mine.

I still live in the real world however, knowing I have never created a sock account in my life for any purposes.

Only if the OP, Sloany, doesn't want to count J. A.'s votes, will I withdraw that inclusion.

J. Baker says:
Here I go, after Architect,

Mystic River - 6
Kiss of the Spider Woman - 7
Top Secret! - 4
The Breakfast Club - 2
Rosemary's Baby - 4
Goodfellas - 7

+ Eastwood at near his most powerful.
- Scorsese at near his most redundant.
