It's just a 'Bond' thing. I always remember getting goosebumps when the Gunbarrel sequence opened a Bond film. It's iconic just like hearing 'Bond, James Bond'.

Well it was there at the end. Didn't bother me so much as they did so many other things right such as using the James Bond theme quite appropriately. I'd much rather see a good Bond film with no opening gun barrel sequence than a poor Bond film with one.

Yet another clue that this Bond cycle is not all it should be.

I, too, am really disappointed that the Craig films don't have that sequence at the start. And how could ANY filmmaker "forget" to include it? It's iconic!

I'm suprised it wasn't in the opening, it seemed like it would've fit in quit nicely. But I do remember an interview with the director saying they either forgot to put it in until the last minute, or they tried to fit it in but it just wouldn't work, which is strange, because you'd think that if your making a 007 film, the Gun Barrel scene would be planned and coordinated from the get go.
Now it sort of seems like the filmmakers want it to fit in with the context of the scene, at least that was the case with Casino Royale. But it doesn't have to be that way, just do the Gun Barrel, and fade to the movie. It's amazing how watching the Gun Barrel in the theater brings a smile on my face, its like an announcing that you're going to be a part of an event; a nostalgic, fun ride, so it would just feel better if they started it at the beginning again.

Hello All! I loved 'Skyfall' but it's missing something extremely Bond, the Gunbarrel Sequence that let's you know it's a Bond movie. I was willing to forgive 'Casino Royale' because Bond wasn't a 00 yet. But 'Quantum Of Solace' and 'Skyfall' show it at the end. You would think on the 50th Anniversary they would have made sure to at least pay homage. Any thoughts? Anyone responding please try to respect other people's opinions. There is no reason to insult. I've been very discouraged on the forums lately with 'I'm right, your wrong' mentalities. Just a friendly discussion would be nice. Fire away!
