It's okay Carma. My mom was in love with Elton John when she was a girl. She was going to marry him and have his babies.

List of my favorite (off the top of my head) songs:

A Change is Gonna Come - Sam Cooke
La Mamma Morta - Maria Callas
Hallelujah - Jeff Buckley
Tragedy (cello version) - Brandi Carlile
The Day the Earth Stood Still - Brian McKnight
Moonlight in Vermont - Ella Fitzgerald/Louis Armstrong
Creep - Radiohead
Gravedigger - Dave Matthews
Nessun Dorma -Andrea Bocelli and Christina Aguilera
Strange Fruit - Billie Holiday
Spanish Guitar - Toni Braxton
Grinnin' in Your Face - Son House

I know I've missed a few, and it looks like my counting needs some work. But, it IS a list.

Will Smith: "Top Ten Most Disgusting Sentimental Films"

Apparently, you're never seen Darabont's 'The Green Mile' or 'The Majestic'.

'The Majestic' in particular, makes any Capra cornball fest, look positively detached and intellectual by comparison.

And look - my 1/10 rating on IMDb isn't affecting the relatively high score much:

And the leading review there says it has too low a rating!
"ninjagaiden007 from Australia" says it's a 10/10.

If you haven't seen it, count yourself *lucky*!

JB: Gosh, I forgot tout l'ouvrage de M. Darabont.

Pardon me while I take an antacid.

Carma: Yes, I can certainly dislike Bambi. It's a cinematic trigger for a lifetime of therapy about abandonment issues--as well as a goo-fest.

Rock: Interesting list--although some might be trying.

William, no Andy Warhol?

Savage Lucy says:
Speaking of Andy Warhol. Ten people who I am pretty sure are not actually from Earth but are instead visiting (or visited) us from a far distant and far more fabulous planet:

Lady Gaga
David Bowie
Mick Jagger
Elton John
Ru Paul
Elvis Pressley
Marc Bolan
Stevie Nicks (She isn't all that fabulous, but she is from space.)
Johnny Depp
and of course - Andy Warhol

Posted on May 17, 2012 8:32:00 AM PDT
SL: Andy would certainly be more than welcome. Luis Bunuel also.

I was going to marry John Lennon! I fell in love with him when I was five years old and saw The Beatles on Ed Sullivan! So sad to lose him.

Now I'm embarrassed that I ever had a crush on Rob Halford. I keep that chickadee tied and gagged in the dungeon!

How about James Joyce? OW is definitely on my top 10! Oh, and C.S. Lewis. In fact, I would love to see you and C.S. in a conversation. In fact a membership in with 'Inklings' would have been very very cathartic for you, dear. Mr. Lewis, unfortunately somewhat as misogynistic as I feel you may be (forgive me if I'm off course here) was very open minded for a devout Christian.

My Favorite 1980s Movies:

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
The Empire Strikes Back
Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan
National Lampoon's Vacation
Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure

Wow; this list was so hard to come up with. To choose only 10 movies from this decade is not an easy task at all. So many great movies were left off of the list. My views may change tomorrow but this is it for now.

Top 10 Melodramas I avoid like the plague when I see their titles on cable:

1 Wuthering Heights - seen it, disliked it so much, i can't even remember which version it was, all i remember is that that title was filed under yuck, don't ever want to see that again
2 Gone with the Wind - can't stand the whiny brat, never can get myself to watch the whole thing,
3 Little Women - ugh - i think i was force-fed the book as a tomboy
4 Beaches - seen it, ok, but not enough to watch it again
5 Somewhere in Time - watched it all the way through only because my mother loves it and i wanted to be able to talk about it with her
6 Sense and Sensibility - i don't even know why i can't make myself want to watch this
7 The English Patient - seen it, don't care if i never see it again
8 The Color Purple - an important film, well done, but too painful for me, been there
9 Sophie's Choice - seen it, no interest in seeing it twice, don't even remember it
10 Funny Girl - i love barbra, but i can't watch most of the musicals that made her a household name

I have grown to love and respect Lady Gaga. At first, I thought she was all gimmick, copycat, but after watching some of her more recent music videos, I am truly impressed at her artistry and performance capabilities. Love the tone of her voice, too, which is not something I could ever say of Madonna or any of the similar singers who followed.
