The reason is simple.....to be visually stimulated, men are visual people & women are to an extent, they can also enhance your sex life, if more people got more sex, the world would be a better place, what guy doesn't like a woman who freely gives it up, there is also the fantasy aspect of porn, surveys have shown that some women have rape fantasies, but wouldn't want that in real life, but with a trusted partner, why not indulge in a fantasy, the same goes for BDSM, it enhances the senses that trigger our sexual responses, I have been on both ends to know this to be true, it is all about enhanced visual stimulation, & that is why it is more mainstream, & never going away.

Porn has been around on film (photos and movies) from the very beginning of its invention. It serves the same purpose as anything else that is photographed for stills or movies. Next question.

JB, lots of men like looking at pussies, would you agree? :)

Not really. It's actually a honest question, but how would you know? I'm just another user trying to make a name for himself. :/ You can put your gas can away now.

FM, I wonder if you are feeling shy to talk about porn and what aspect of it that you find very titillating?

Well you've hit part of the appeal there I'm sure. Look at how popular TMZ is & how people rubberneck at accidents. I'm sure some of it is morbid curiosity at how far someone can sink (refering to the China thing since she was a pre-porn celebrity in particular).

I'm far from prudish. I enjoy going to the strip club or looking thru a Playboy myself but I don't find hardcore porn appealing myself but that's me. For those that enjoy it great. Similarly the swinger lifestyle is not for me but for those who enjoy it great. I think we need more than religeous tolerance for sure & that's where this falls for me although it is damn close to prostitution.

That said OF COARSE anything can be exploited in the negative but we need to deal with those cases on a case by case level not just say the whole thing is bad which is not to say some things aren't just bad. I am against prostitution (as it stands without testing & such like the porn industry has anyway), drugs like crack, and such for sure. (Edit: personally I might get rid of smoking before porn as it seems like as nasty or nastier a habit, yet legal, to me but at this point it would never work. You'd just run it underground so to speak.)

I think I believe I heard that Fifty Shades had already been optioned for a movie. Or, more to the point, three movies.

Bad writing equals big bucks, same as always.

I can't say I've "read" Fifty Shades. At a Barnes and Noble, I spent ten idle minutes flipping pages and my report would be, "Most literary porn is pretty bad; this is many times worse. Naomi Wolf bad, I mean.

I'd venture that back in One Million B.C., the first caveman scribbling on the cave walls might well have drawn a bison or a mastodon. But his less talented buddy, watching by the flickering firelight, would've said, "Wow! That's pretty cool, Og! Now draw a woman with big t*ts!"

When sculpture was invented? Same deal. Pericles himself is recorded as having said, "Not bad, but can you make 'em bigger?"

Some of those monks were illuminating more than the Gospels, if you know what I mean.

Gutenberg, when he wasn't printing Bibles, must've had a back room full of the "good stuff".

And Alexander Graham Bell? His first message might've been "Watson! Come here, I need you!" But right after that, he asked, "What're you wearing?"

Sex sells.

I've ordered the book Soak Your Nuts: Cleansing With Karyn: Detox Secrets for Inner Healing and Outer Beauty. It's a health book, but it SOUNDS pornographic. The author 65, if you can believe it. She looks 40!

gambitrmp you make a good point with the smoking and all that, but you go to remember this country was founded on tobacco cultivation. They won't ban that anytime soon because the government always gets their cut. The adult film business and even the legal brother or brothels are examples of the same thing. The government is getting their cut, therefore, it's legal. I think the price is too high and even though there are people willing to pay that price doesn't mean it's right.

Ah sometimes sadly, money makes the world go round, right.

I don't know if it's funny or sad how bad the economy is yet so many, have so much for entertainment expenses. Want is the new need, unless you actually don't have what you actually need and many people put wants before needs (myself included to a degree I guess?).

Kacee,

I don't know. She was featured in the local paper since she spoke at a conference here recently. She still looked pretty good from the newspaper pics!

Bella, yes she looks terrific. I just read this article and she says "I have wonderful estheticians and therapists who do natural manicures, pedicures and facials. I do facials regularly with our myopulse machine, which restores collagen and smooths out fine lines and wrinkles without botox or surgery!"

It would be lovely to afford beauty treatments and a lot of fruit and veg too.

Kacee,

I was reading about her, too. It looks like she has a restaurant and spa in Chicago, IL. She's a vegan and also does these beauty treatments you mentioned. I try to eat pretty healthy most of the time, but those treatments are NOT cheap. I'll have to settle with rubbing olive oil all over my body. lol!!

"Adult Films: What's the Purpose of Porn?"

-LOL!!! With all due respect, this has got to be the funniest/useless thread i've seen here in a while! Although a few different issues have been aborded, i would humbly answer this one by another question : Why do you masturbate ? ....

Well, you'll have to excuse me if I feel people can actually have a debate over a sensitive subject like this. Open your mind, Quaid.

It's just my stand on it. It is a film industry that capitalizes on human insecurities and felt this was right place to put it. If you want to joke, fine, but try to add to topic. You don't have anything to add, move on.
