Can we please get consensus on where to list movies that begin with "The".

The Enforcer is under E and The Ghost & Mrs. Muir is under T.

I don't care one way or the other, but as these lists get longer, movies will be harder to find. What say the voting public? File under "T" for "the" or file under the first letter of the following word?

I would say the "A", "An" or "The" in a title should be overlooked in alphabetizing.
List 'The Ghost and Mrs. Muir' by "G" as if the "The" wasn't there.
So that one should come between 'From Russia With Love' and 'Jaws'... that's my vote.

After harold citrus,

Ghost Rider - 3
It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World - 7
Goodfellas - 9
Brazil - 6
Modern Romance - 6
Blue Velvet - 8

Plus - Modern Romance
Minus - Ghost Rider

That was easy.

Yep.

@Albert Brooks
In my experience, I've found guys tend to like Brooks' humour more than the gals do. I've found the ladies tend to see him as too whiny, leading to too annoying. Maybe it's the whinger that lurks in all men (just look at us when we're sick!) that means his humour appeals more to us.

Take 'Broadcast News' for example. I would think (perhaps incorrectly), that more gals would urge Holly Hunter to pick William Hurt's character. I myself wanted her to pick Brooks. If not Brooks, then someone else entirely (I won't spoil for those who haven't seen it).

Even though his films are a kind of romantic comedy, they do seem to appeal to the lads more.

I've found guys and gals are pretty much equally split on Albert.... and there's no telling when or where. I haven't done a conclusive worldwide study or anything. I've met a fairly even sampling of both kinds of either gender.

Similar to Woody Allen, as I mentioned on another thread.
This is probably what would happen if we had 'The Purple Rose of Cairo' on here too.

When I was writing that bit about Albert, I had Woody in the back of my mind. I'd bet that those who don't like Woody don't like Albert. Not a sure bet, but the odds would be in my favour.

It's funny...I'll put on 'Lost in America' and the missus squirms in her seat, yet I find it oddly calming, soothing.

"This is probably what would happen if we had 'The Purple Rose of Cairo' on here too."

It's odd. You'd think that there would be overlap, a middle road so to speak, but there seems to be an absolute opposite taste thing going on. I notice we (U&I) differ here and there, same goes for most (the Q's, 7's, Em, Mg, etc), but with the gang, it's a sure bet that we will differ on taste. There must be a film out there that we can all agree on being worthy of Movie Heaven. No?

"There must be a film out there that we can all agree on being worthy of Movie Heaven."

There are three movies I would be devastated to see in Movie Hell, and I don't want to add them to the list until I have a better sense of which way the wind is blowing. I've thought there were some spite votes on the Actors Game within the past week (not by the friendly crew), and I don't want the same thing to happen here.

In reply to an earlier post on Aug 22, 2012 8:55:26 AM PDT
Spite?

The friendly crew consist of anyone not named Sloany or Baker. As they play the part of the Antagonist.

I wonder what your 3 movies are. I bet OJ is not in them.
Though Naked Gun is still funny in *spite* of him.

Once they target your votes the only way not to have spit is to put them on ignore.

In reply to an earlier post on Aug 22, 2012 10:03:33 AM PDT
I never noticed spite in the actors game. Maybe because it is too frivolous. Too fast. Too many variables with an actor because they are all over the place. Actors can make good and bad movies and you can still like them.

With movies it is more of a foundation that is being attacked. The movie is either good or bad in your eyes.

If you're gonna come here with that bad attitude and *#$%ed-up opinion, you're not going to find it as entertaining or pleasant being wherever you are. Looking for antagonists where there are none is a self-fulfilling prophesy most times. That's exactly what the Unspeakable One did, and that's what he got.
Please don't make me put you on Ignore again. I've taken you and Douglas off Ignore recently, because I consider you two to have comparatively more sense than the rest of the LA's regulars on the Music board.

This, I vow, will be the last time I address this to any of you: Sloan and I do NOT "vote as one"... that is no more logical than one of LA's paranoiac tirades to say that.

Please try to use your head, SA. Don't fall into the lazy-minded conspiracy BS that Priestess and Couple have. It's a bottomless pit of idiocy.

Winner Winner, Chicken Dinner! I try to like him for the Husbands sake... but I find myself wanting to duct tape Alberts mouth shut. Really, I'm sorry.

"I find myself wanting to duct tape Alberts mouth shut."

Em,
My missus is the same. We watched 'Defending Your Life' on cable a few weeks ago, and she was ok with that one. Then I watched 'Lost in America' about a week ago, and she battled through. Then I put on 'Modern Romance' a couple of days ago, and she bursts out with, "NO. No more. I can't take any more!!".
