I'm envisioning a casual and fun place to chat about anything involving movies here: filmmaking, movies of the past, current trends, what the future may bring for cinema, favorite genres, gripes and criticism, and so on.

And should we occasionally ramble and wander off into another area (like fiction or television or music or whatever), no worries about straying off topic.

I'll get the ball rolling. I've seen ads for a new comedy film called "Bridesmaids", and it seems to look like the girls' answer to "The Hangover" in some ways. Meaning, a rollicking and bawdy romp-- but featuring females. I think this could be a really fun thing. Of course, comedy flicks featuring mostly ladies is nothing new, but it definitely needs a shot in the arm. The trailer alone is funny:

Looks like the stout gal is gonna steal the show, lol.

The stout gal is Molly, from the tv show "Mike and Molly". There is a diner in the show.
I think it is the same diner that was in the show "Becker".
I'm getting the muchies.

Leprechaun Vs. Chucky-- I'm surprised that hasn't happened yet. With a special appearance by the Puppet Master.

I heard "Mike and Molly" is pretty good for a sitcom.

Speaking of diners... and I quote you from 1 year and 2 days ago:

"Shia [Labeouf]. He melts my milkshakes.

My dripping sarcasm taken out of context and quoted.

It's nice to be remembered after a year and two days!

Sorry bella7, trying to edit and accidently erased post. Its back up, but now we're back-to-front!

"1987 - Paul Lynch of Great Britain does 32,573 push-ups in 24 hours"

I could do ten girlie push-ups in the same timeframe!
Also, as a person along the OCD spectrum, I highly disapprove of the number 32,573. We need some zeros in there, especially at the end.

Events that occurred on May 13th in history:

Writer Daphne du Maurier was born in 1907
The frist permanent English settlement was established in Jamestown, Virginia in 1607 (noted above, although worded differently)
"Golden Girl" Bea Arthur was born in 1926

I, too, give a cheery Happy Friday the 13th to all!

Is that Jason Vorhees behind me? (imagine that infamous score here: "kee kee kee ... mah mah mah")

Hayley's Comet has appeared 3 or so times in recorded history on Fri 13th. For something that occurs so infrequently, i find this freaky.

Must be something about the number thirteen.

And nine, as well. It can mean attainment or prosperity, and also finality.

Number 9... Number 9....
9 seasons of Seinfeld.
Nine muses to inspire us.
Session 9 ("Hello, Gordon")
9 Lives.
Plan 9 from Outer Space.

And this:
